I understand that. I don't have any problem with people not having the room. It also says in this video (10 seconds in) that this is all illegal in Paris.

If it wasnt illegal would there be any problem with people praying in public? Now I'm not well up on what the laws concerning freedom of religious expression on the south circular road but what would the position be if it was illegal.

Who made that video? Can you not hear the scaremongering running right throughout it. I don't have time to look into who made the video but I would be very secptical of their motives.

No. You're suggesting that we go against our culture/beliefs regarding freedom of religion and follow the example of these muslim countries, because you despise the culture/beliefs of these muslim countries and how they conduct themselves.
    It's jumbled-up thinking.

I never mentioned whether or not I despised these countries or not. To jump to this conclusion is a little premature and short sighted. I asked the question whether or not they would be so tolerant with non muslims who broke the law in their country while expressing their religious beliefs.

Again, the way in which the muslims in this report expressed their beliefs was against French law. It has nothing to do with whether you think I hate muslim countries or not.

The christian broadcasting network I believe. I dont know that much about them so I can't comment.

Why are you sceptical of their motives?

Have you listened to the reporter in the video? Do you think there is any scaremongering going on or is there a realistic chance of Sharia Law in Paris. I mean, for crying out loud, that is not a remote possibility, why are they trying to make people nervous about it?

I thought you were suggesting that they should be treated in western countries as you'd imagine Christians would be treate in Islamic countries.
If they are breaking the law and continue to do so, i'd imagine the French authorites will deal with it as they see fit.

Thats your opinion. The worshippers broke french law and thats all there is to it. If muslims want to pray fair enough. Thats not the issue. It must be done within the confines of the society and laws they operate in.

If the broadcasters have an agenda then thats up to them and frankly I dont care. It's not something I'd subscribe to. I know little or nothing about the broadcasters so for me or anyone else to apologise for a broadcasting corporation they know little about would be foolish.

No. Absolutely not. I believe they are as entitled as anyone to express themselves and their religious beliefs in the same way as anyone else. As I've said earlier I only believe they should do so within the laws of the land.

Do you believe the broadcast gives a fair and balanced account of what really happened? Yes or no.

Are you for or against Sharia Law been implemented in Europe?

Its whether or not it's correct that matters. Most media outlets operate to some form of agenda so to expect balance or fairness isnt always reasonable. Not necessarily religious agendas.

The Christian Broadcasting Network is the brain child of Pat Robertson.

Here are some words of wisdom from Paddy:

"The feminist agenda is not about equal rights for women. It is about a socialist, anti-family political movement that encourages women to leave their husbands, kill their children, practice witchcraft, destroy capitalism and become lesbians."

"It may be a blessing in disguise. ... Something happened a long time ago in Haiti, and people might not want to talk about it. Haitians were originally under the heel of the French. You know, Napoleon the third, or whatever. And they got together and swore a pact to the devil. They said, we will serve you if you will get us free from the French. True story. And so, the devil said, okay it's a deal. Ever since they have been cursed by one thing after the other."

"Many of those people involved in Adolf Hitler were Satanists, many were homosexuals - the two things seem to go together."

"Just like what Nazi Germany did to the Jews, so liberal America is now doing to the evangelical Christians. It's no different. It is the same thing. It is happening all over again. It is the Democratic Congress, the liberal-based media and the homosexuals who want to destroy the Christians. Wholesale abuse and discrimination and the worst bigotry directed toward any group in America today. More terrible than anything suffered by any minority in history."

    and for the grand finale.
"I have a zero tolerance for sanctimonious morons who try to scare people."

I dont know whay that was directed at me. I didnt come here as an apologist for the christian broadcasting network and have said so in a previous post. It's not the CBN that I came here to speak and to do so would be to move away from the topic at hand.

Because this thread isnt about my opinion on fair and balanced news reporting. Unless of course there's something you want me to say.

Your avoidance of giving a simple answer leads me to believe you don't believe it is a fair report, but you are one of those people who doesn't like to admit when they are wrong.

It wasn't directed at you Orourkeda. It was directed at Pat, bit hypocritical of him considering the preceding quotes from him I listed.

Wrong about what? The fact that you believe that the report is biased or the actual content of the report that this thread was set up to discuss.

You're the one who brought it off topic in a bid to make me admit I'm wrong about something thats irrelevant to the conversation. If the content is wrong, I'll apologise for listening to it. If it's at least factually correct then your and my opinion on whether it's fair or balanced is a non topic.

Fair enough. I wouldnt advocate those kinds of opinions either. I dont think anyone could but thats what he thinks I suppose he's free to express them whether we like them or not.

Using Pat Robertson as proof of anything is pretty funny. The guy is nuts, and he is a well known scare monger. If anything posting a video from his network, hurts the point the OP was trying to make.

They don't practice "multiculturalism" in France. Never have, never will. Less time reading the crap that passes for info on sites like Pat Robertson would help broaden your horizons about that kind of thing.

The fact that they are Muslim is irrelevant. It's being used as ammo for a definite agenda though.

If people need to use the shops/ access living accommodation a pathway should be kept clear/the praying should have the basic decency enough to move and not to block the streets. I've said the same thing when unauthorised protests take place on O'Connell Street.

I'm capable of checking. Thanks very much.

I never suggested that there is or isn't independent verification of anything this guy said. Now if you read some of my posts you would realise that I didn't come on here as an apologist for this guy. I DIDN'T. To try to portray me as such is disingenuous.

If the content of this video is incorrect then I take it all back.

What a load of bollocks that so called "news report" is. It is just Muslims praying on the street because there is not enough room in the Mosque for friday prayer. Friday prayer lasts 5 minutes and all Muslims must pray together at the same time. If they help the Muslims get a bigger mosque, problem solved.

These people need to realise that they must like everyone else respect and obey local laws. We don't need more mosques, we need more responsibility.

Perhaps they do need more mosques. However that does not give anyone a right to block the streets if there are objections from businesses or residents. It's possible there aren't and in that case they can keep doing it.

Indeed. This would be my main issue with this whole thing too.

I am sorry but the bolded part is false. I come from Nigeria where muslims have absolutely no constraints in terms of space to worship, but this kind of public display is common place. It is used as a form of evangelisation and publicity. Are you honestly telling us that so many people have to be out:

    • At the same time
    • At the same venue
    to worship????????

Islam mandates that followers pray 5 times a day, how do these crowd manage that without meeting together.

Like other "multi-cultural" cities , Paris has enough mosques that cater for islamic faithfuls....well unless you want the whole city to yourself??
