still no sign of a fresh application campaign on publicjobs.... Almost October now at this stage..

Still no sign its starting to annoy me at this stage..maybe they are just having a laugh at our expense. The HSE have started an emt recruitment drive that must have benn announced sometime last year if its kicking off now.

    whats goin on you'd wonder.

ahern annouces that recruitment will commence in the coming weeks and nothing happens

then the army start a recruitment campaign

now the hse start an EMT campaign

if the fire services start recruiting it'll be beyond the joke and you know i can see it happening

there has to be something going on to be delaying things

Limerick Fire Brigade are already going through their campaign.

I think there will be an announcement at the next graduation ceremony on Oct 28th. Why? The last phase graduated in July, which was so close to the announcement in June of intention to recruit that media just reissued the same details.

It will have been over 4 months since the announcement was made. Media interest will be increased. Also, Defence Forces, Fire Brigade and EMT recruitment and training has not changed.. It has for An Garda Siochana. I think they have been preparing for new programme, and will announce something at cremony on 28th!

    My 2c

Think Eroo has a very Valid point there!...And as he/she stated the training syllabus has completely changed which will take time to introduce train staff and finally to implement!...Yes I'm for an announcement in October!.

    Hi Dexter.
Your question is already answered in the FAQ Thread Please familiarise yourself with this thread before posting.
In answer to your question, you will need 2 languages at least one to include Irish or English. English and Irish would suffice for this requirement however you would have to study either French or German if and when you get to Templemore. Hope that helps, and welcome to the forum.

Im with Eroo for some clarification on the 28th, surely they cannot have another graduation without addressing an intake. Personally I think it's too close to the year end. Christmas, the budget ECT is just around the corner. My guess would be Feb but that’s just me. Was talking to my friend yesterday He said he has his fitness test for the army on Wednesday??? If money can be set aside for fitness tests for the army, surely guys and gals waiting on PCT'S and medicals for 2yrs+ should be of higher priority.

Fitness test aren't going to cost the army much, if any, money. And they work out of two separate budgets so priority doesn't come into it.Even if it did, the army are probably getting people ready to start training very soon, the gardai(as of yet) are not, unfortunately.

With regards intake, my moneys on december.

The Gardai already have people ready to start training, so I'd say thats why they're not doing anything to this regards at the moment.
Unless they're given the go ahead for a large intake which would be unlikely.
Hoping December myself but would imagine late November to give people a chance to get something done before the holidays.

Hello all. Long-time reader of the Garda thread. First time poster. My question is that what way has it historically worked over the Christmas and New Year in respect of holidays??

Just been looking through some of the prep courses being run...
Some started last month but the rest seem to be starting next month which can only be a good sign for those waiting to apply.

dont shoot anyone, dont hold up a shop, and dont drink and drive. That should help your chances

Sorry folks, but I really doubt there will be any intakes this year. Campaign might be launched, but I doubt they would take anybody in in December.

    Why are you apologising?
Do you have a source to back this up or is it just your own opinion?

but, really & doubt - all opinionised words.

you could be right however. A campaign will definitely be launched, but remains to be seen when people will be taken in from that campaign.

    Thats why asked....
Why start by apologising if it's your opinion, everyone is entitled to one. When people start with "Sorry folks" would normally indicate they have info to share rather than an opinion.

hi there, you know what, you might be rite..what's the point'n startin the new campaign when there's plenty of people who passed their exams and waitin since 2008?????genuine people that really want this job...
all is on the net is that the money is there and around 100new recruits will be takin before the end of the year, but when rang the HQ,it's either confidential...either nobody knows yet..

Think eroo is saying the complete opposite,
That the new campaign may start, but there will be no intake.

Nothing this gov does makes sense, its like having a man arrested for parking across the gates of Leinster House, could have just asked him to move on :D

i hope this doesn't effect us

The Dáil returns this afternoon for a session likely to be dominated by another tough Budget and attempts by the Opposition to destabilise the Government.

The Budget is set to cut at least €3bn from an already struggling economy and there are signs of unrest on the Government backbenches over health cutbacks.

Fine Gael is due to table a motion on the Coalition's handling of the economy.

It will also try to move the writs for the three outstanding bye-elections in Dublin South, Donegal South West and Waterford.

The Government has hinted already they will take place next year.

    Cement truck protest

Meanwhile, a 41-year-old man was arrested this morning after a cement truck was driven up to the gates of Leinster House.

The words 'Anglo Toxic Bank' were displayed on the cement mixing drum of the truck.

Gardaí and mechanics have been attempting to remove the vehicle from the entrance but it is understood the break lines and electric cable on the truck have been cut.

A heavy truck is being sent to the scene to remove the cement truck.

The man is being questioned at Pearse Street Garda Station on suspicion of causing criminal damage.

Deputy Fergus O'Dowd of Fine Gael said he understood that a garda on duty had to jump out of the way as the truck was driven up to the entrance.

A demonstration against the Budget cuts will take place in Dublin this afternoon to mark the return of the Dáil.

The protest is part of a European day of action.

I've deleted the last few posts here as they are mostly off topic and I will not have a pointless row start on this thread.

    Back on topic please
