It's not really that big though is it? Any goon can ring up the cops and make a bomb threat. Surprised it doesn't happen more often to be honest. They probably would have just wrote it off as the hoax it was if it wasn't for the timing coinciding with the burka ban thing. They were probably under orders to be excessively cautious should anything of the sort come up.

It's pretty big considering the scale of people being evacuated/the fact that it's the Eiffel Tower, which is the symbol of France.
