Dunno where their getting 25,000 from. Euronews has just said around 2,000.
Cause it wouldn't be nearly as much fun to blow an already existing hole in the ground?

GI Joe Trivia : Nearly all the Paris shots in GI Joe were actually filmed in Prague. It was impossible for audiences to tell the difference however because they were asleep.

So what's happening here? Seems strange for there to be no updates on something as relatively big as this.

It's not really that big though is it? Any goon can ring up the cops and make a bomb threat. Surprised it doesn't happen more often to be honest. They probably would have just wrote it off as the hoax it was if it wasn't for the timing coinciding with the burka ban thing. They were probably under orders to be excessively cautious should anything of the sort come up.

It's pretty big considering the scale of people being evacuated/the fact that it's the Eiffel Tower, which is the symbol of France.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but you evacuate areas, or buildings, and not people?

Poor writing from BBC etc tbh.

I will stand corrected of course, if 2000 people around the Eiffel Tower, for some reason, have actually sh*t themselves.

    Dictionary Fail
1 remove (someone) from a place of danger to a safer place:several families were evacuated from their homes
leave or cause the occupants to leave (a place of danger):fire alarms forced staff to evacuate the building [no object] :nearly five million had to evacuate because of air terror

I think it happened, not so long ago, to an Irishman for making hoax bomb-threats against Heathrow.
