He doesn't take any crap in lectures, and can be pretty intimidating, but yeah. I had a brief chat with him outside the lecture, I think I was asking him about the project or something, and he couldn't have been nicer :)

Yeah, he's pretty infamous for kicking out latecomers. I've never had him as a lecturer, but I respect his methods; he sticks to his rules and they're pretty reasonable! And in conversation, he's really sound.

The line at the SAA, longer than the queue into Angel Lane.

ok daily life really is pretty damn sh*t down here! not even here two weeks yet and i absolutely hate it.. firstly too far away from home <<<(very important) and secondly the weather can be shocking..thirdly and most importantly -- what a dump im living in with lets say not very ideal housemates! nothing right about the place!! seriously contemplating quiting already and searching new avenues..... :(:(:(

just a question for anybody out there.. is there any chance that you could get refunded your registration fees at this stage -- please help????? :(

You're only two weeks in yet mate, give the place a chance. I'm guessing you're a firstie and it's tough lviing away from home for the first time and even more so if you came here on your own but you have to make an effort too - it's clubs & socs night down in the Arena tonight so the best advice I'd give you is to head down there and join 3/4 clubs or socs you have an interest in. Best way to make new friends.

UL has no control over the weather either [unfortunately] so you can't do anything about but the housemate thing can be sorted if you live on campus - chat to your village manager.

    "Yee Haw."

    "Lecture in progress. Thank you"

    Ah, the memories! :D

"Every day I wake up and thank God for Enron! Thanks to them, I will be gainfully employed for years to come!"

Sent 2 chapters for review 10 days ago (the most critial chapters), and I was eventually informed that I'd have feedback this weekend, and guess what, yes thats right folks, NO F***ING FEEDBACK received yet!

My thesis is due in less than 2 weeks, and I cant get simple feedback on some material.

Its ridiculously frustrating right now, and please god let the info arrive tomorrow, cos if not, my thesis will be submitted as it stands! :(

Have him too and he makes my lc accounting teacher look like a drooling idiot. I might learn to like the subject again!

" oh dont worry you actually are registered, its just a silly bug"

Ok, I've let this slide for quite some time but today was a watershed for me.

The Problem: The oul wan in O'Mahoneys

The Issue: The complete and utter impoliteness in everything she does. I can't help but feel she has immense disdain for the student populace by her demeanour. Everything seems to be such an effort. Quite clearly the words 'please', 'thank you', 'let me help you' are omitted from her vocabulary. The way she just ****ed the change across the counter to me today ignoring my outstretched hand took the biscuit. I actually had to stop a €2 coin from flying off the counter.

Seriously missus; cop the **** on. Your not endearing yourself to anyone and if you want my business or that of the rest of the students at least fooking look like you do nevermind appreciate it!

So many reasons to bitch :(

Stupid lecturers who act like they are better than everyone else and who can't reply to a simple email.

Fellow students who don't have the cop on to know when it's not ok to scream and shout . . . in other words: indoors is for indoor voices

The heat in the library, no need for it, total waste of energy.

People who can't read simple road signs, the row of parking I'm talking about is one way, stop horsing in from the wrong direction, if you did that on a motorway you would end up dead or in prison, why is it ok to do it in a car park?

    Stress!

The American students who sat behind me in a sociology lecture last monday and talked throughout the whole lecture while one of their phones beeped incessantly (no it was not on silent) and one of them actually had his smelly feet thrown over the empty chair beside me so that it was inches from my face! And at the end of the lecture they had the cheek to make a few belittling comments about Irish lectures. If you don't want to be here then f**k back home because your manners left a lot to be desired!!!

I was in that lecture too. I thought it was bad form from whoever owned that phone.

It must have been the day for heedless folk, I got into the lecture hall early to do some reading. I sat in the front row. After a few minutes two people came in, (I was the only person in the room) they sat two rows behind me and started laughing and having a shouty conversation.

I know a lecture hall isn't like the library, but bitches please!

Ugh, I've a nine o'clock lecture tomorrow morning...and that's it. And I'll be lucky to get home for half 11 because no buses go to where I'm living!

And it's a bit of a bitch that you still have to pay full tuition fees even if you left your last course after, like, 3 weeks on medical grounds. And I was basically told that I wasn't going to get the money back, so that's over two months wages down the drain :(. (Well, drain, education...whatever :p).

Oh no, as far as I'm concerned the lecture hall is like the library! People are trying to learn and hear the lecturer. I missed a few points the last day because of the rude americans and boy was I seething! Grrr, people can be so irritating!

Why is the library so damn warm!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,652 ✭✭✭✭Busi_Girl08

People who turn up 10+ minutes late to a lecture, LOUDLY.

Then they plonk down next to you (there are 5 spare seats around you) talk to their friend in front of/behind you and spend another 5 minutes ruffling around their bag, realise they have no paper , ask everyone for some paper, the whole faff of tearing out some refill pages, then asking around for a pen, etc.

Then they spend the whole lecture texting.:mad::mad::mad:

Not a bitch, but if anyone is doing the 'Literary Theory' module, 'Bllue Velvet' is on TCM in 30 minutes.

Never mind the library, what about P1OO1?!!

    Or the Jean Monet!

There's a whole argument out there about the energy efficient-ness of UL in it's entirety; most places are too hot and I've stumbled home often enough at all hours of the morning to wonder do they ever turn some of the lights off ever

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,652 ✭✭✭✭Busi_Girl08

    Cheek of some people!

I was just in the library, printing off (or at least trying to) some notes.

I went to the printer room for all of 5 minutes, and when I came back, my chair was gone!:mad:

Why is the screen on the PCs in the A0060 lab so big?!

    Aaaah, my eyes!

Mess around with the resolution settings. They're all on super-low res 800x600 for some silly reason.

I'm not good at estimating but I rekon there was at least a million Gardaí over hanging around the music building blocking traffic, taking up all the spaces
and giving me funny looks icon6.gif

To protect our Dear Leader no doubt, from the madding crowd who were gathering to protest.

There weren't really many people protesting outside the building, but there were quite a few Gardaí around. They probably expected some sort of trouble, but didn't factor in the apathy of students!
