Why would they disagree? That song IS mainstream.

If the kids in the video were white there wouldn't be a problem with it at all.

    Racists.

    Racists.

If they were down in council estates with a bunch of disadvantaged white children that video would be just as awful.

I agree, i dont think its their worst stuff tbh, its better than anything on the last 2 albums.. if anything it sounds a bit more like the original sound of the band imo

You "real" fans are idiots!! blah blah blah a band cant change their sound because they leave the roots etc etc, what kind of bullsh1t is that???

Theres songs i love and songs i wont listen to on all 4 albums, look at AHA, pistol of fire...terrible!! YAYM - joes head? terrible! their last 2 albums were really good i think, yes a bit more stadium rock type sound but since when is that a bad thing?? They are producing great songs on every album they do, OBTN had some crackers and some not so good songs, every song cant please everyone!

Its just music snobs attempt at being old skool! pathetic!

On topic: the song isnt bad, the video is terrible but i wouldnt hold that against the band!

Oh yes. Obviously the only reason I don't like the song is because I'm trying to be cool.

Seriously? :pac: It's called an opinion.

Kings of Leon are one of those bands that are easy to hate. You have the people that just don't like popular bands and all that mainstream stuff, bla bla bla, it is apparently cool to not like them and make jokes about how bad they are, music snobs !

For me, I loved their first two albums, must of listened to Aha at least a million times but after those albums it went a bit down hill for me, there have been some decent songs but nothing that came close to the quality of their previous albums in my opinion.

That song will not be on my download list but my god it was hard to concentrate on the song when watching that video

I have been a KOL fans for years and love their older albums. I wasn't sold on OBTN but it had some good songs... Crawl and Cold Desert come to mind. I saw them play some songs from their upcoming album in Hyde Park in June and Radioactive was one of them. I have to say it sounds MUCH better live. It has been completely overproduced which is such a shame. The video is completely cringeworthy... But they are the sons of a preacher so if anyone can get away with it, it's them!

have to say i like it. it's better than anything off the last two albums.

was a massive fan of them for the first two albums, and just didn't like the sound of the next two. i didn't go round saying they were **** or sold out or whatever just they didn't' grab me by the balls like the first two albums did.

time will tell if this is a good album though so far the signs are more promising than what i had been expecting.

I'm not, and never was a big KOL but this is about as good as they've always been.

The 'I only like the first album' brigade wont like it though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,014 ✭✭✭✭Corholio

This thread has nearly swung from "the song is crap" to "it's not really too bad, better than the last album"

For what it's worth I think it's a shocking song and an even worse video, on par or even worse then the last album.

It is actually more like, The 'I only like the first two albums' brigade.
Which makes sense since there was a distinct change after their first two albums but I am sure since you have listened to all their albums consecutively that you know this.

Hating the Kings of Leon is the new liking the Kings of Leon.
Nothing wrong with the song; don't really care about the video.

Should that not be the other way around? KOL's jeans are impossibly tight!

As previously mentioned, nothing wrong with the song. Catchy, radio-friendly,seems like an offshoot following OBTN as opposed to an extension of that sound.I don't see attempt at retackling their Southern roots which the band had hinted at prior to its release. I think KOL has just lost the grit and the rawness that endeared them to us in the first place and in doing so have undergone a paradigm shift in the development of their sound, alienating the previous fanbase and facilitating a new one. Not necessarily a bad thing for them, I mean, as musicians they are entitled to complete artistic license over their output regardless of how it affects their listenership.

I dunno, for me, while a solid enough song (perhaps not a completely solid lead-single?) it slightly lacks the edge and urgency that made the band important for me.

It's more a comment on trends. It's now uber cool to slate the KoL. Liking them is anathema to the hipster.

People should concern themsleves less with what other people say is cool and find their own groove. You'd have a better, more varied music scene.

Ah yes, I see what you mean now! Yeah, you're right, but you will always have pretentiousness in music, I wouldn't think KOL are too concerned.

I prefer to be thrown into the "first two album brigade". Their last two albums have been ****. Not helped by how much they were overplayed everywhere. They were a good band, you might not like them but they had a huge amount of talent and promise.

This new song is dreadful, I mean really really dreadful. I didn't expect much so I'm not disappointed but it is just ****e.

Right, so just so i'm not mistaken, this is the thread title

"New "Kings Of Leon" track "Radioactivity""

Yet the two of ye both came in to say the band are shíte and always have been, without even referencing the song, a song you probably haven't even listened to, can I ask a question?

    What's the f*cking point?
