Great actor and always seemed like a really decent, down-to-earth man.

I thought this was a joke at first because it's in AH.

    God rest him.

Ah...Mick was an atheist with more lines on his face than a zebra's arse. But an honest soul that was loved by many. He will be missed. If he does meet his maker I'm sure he will be forgiven - Not for his atheism - but for his acting.

Very sad. Glenroe was pretty much the only tv programme I was allowed stay up late to watch! May he rest in peace.

I remember those Sunday nights, Where in the world? Followed by Glenroe, feels like a lifetime ago now.

I don't care what anyone says, Alexander was worth the torture just to see Miley going Hollywood.

    RIP. :(

I last saw him in John B Keanes "The Matchmaker" with Mary McEvoy in the Tivoli last month. A fabulous stage actor, one of the better ones we have ever had. In Glenroe and Bracken he became the man who made farming and country accents sexy again and in doing so gave us our dignity back.

A very humble and down to earth man in every way. Such a difference to the spoilt brats, fake Z-list celebs and egoistic pr!cks who seem to populate TV and film these days.

Rest In Peace, Mick. You'll never be forgotten in these parts.

Folks let's not take the thread off topic with random infighting. If you have nothing to add other than sniping at each other it might be best left alone. I'm going to remove some of these unnecessary posts now. If you have any questions about this please PM me as opposed to further derailing the thread.

My sympathies to his family and friends. Ireland has lost a great actor and a lovely man. R.I.P. Mr. Lally...

A gentleman & fine actor indeed. He will be surely missed. My maths teacher in secondary school was in his class at school (Mary's, Galway). My teacher used to tell us stories about him all the time, and truth be told, not a bad word could be said about him, both on and off the stage.

Mick, there isn't an adult in the country that won't remember you fondly (at the very least from Glenroe). It was the last bit of entertaining telly most families got to watch the night before the new school/work week.

    RIP.

I just text my wife and said "Miley has passed away". She replied with "Hannah Montana?". :D

I guess the cigarettes got him in the end but much too young, a great actor and a gentleman. RIP.
