This is one of the most :mad:ing stupid things I have come across in this :mad:ing place.

I'm in the library printing out pages, clickity-click, go in to collect them and there are 28 pages waiting for me telling me that the job was cancelled due to lack of funds.

28 :mad:ing pages wasted just like that.

How the hell can that happen? This place is unbelievable for waste.

Surely if I'm low on funds the print jobs shouldn't be processed?

I feel like I'm taking crazy pills.

it has probably cost UL more to print those pages than it would to print the pages you wanted!! stupid!

And just as stupid as returning after the summer to find your student mail in-box full - usually with messages from the 'system supervisor' telling you that your in-box was full! I had 67 of those once, always wished I could reply, if only to ask 'why do you think that is then?

two editions out of date probably.

To bring the thread back on topic a little bit...what the feck happened to O Mahoney's?! :(

It's so tiny now. The book rush is going to be MAYHEM.

They couldn't afford to keep the two units.

I have to agree that they have been overcharging students for a long time, and it came as a massive surprise to me about 3 weeks ago when I saw a sale on in there [Yes I said a sale]. They were offering 25% off all Law Books. I was shocked!
Defo all outta date! I had freinds who bought law books at the start of the semester and had to buy a newer edition for repeats!

Mossin can bitch about his Thesis for as long as he's writing it. I came on to this thread to feel some solace in the fact I'm not the only one who's pissed at UL. And that was ruined. Grrrrrrrr.

My bitch? The library's stupid opening hours. And people ruining the Irish right to be feckin' miserable.

Brought the printer thing to the attention of one of the library staff today. To say they were completely uninterested is an understatement.

She said that students should check their balance before every print job

I said that if there is a problem with the printer the job goes in a queue, why not have it set the same so you'd get a dialogue box if you were out of credit?

Because that's not the way it works
    \brick :mad:in' wall.

Wtf is up with not being able to access timetables off campus?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 88 ✭✭AlwaysRight

Nothing on the UL website works using the Thomond Village internet. Timetables, lecture notes, student records, none of it. Its really frustrating to have to go back into the library to do any of that stuff. And I'm not the only one, its happening to loads of people in thomond that I asked. Dunno whats going on.

this worked for me in dromroe:

In Internet Explorer, got to Tools, Internet Options, Connections, LAN Settings,
    and enter the following:

    Address: student-proxy.ul.ie
    Port: 8080

and tick the box 'Use a proxy server for your LAN'
    Then click ok, ok again.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,351 ✭✭✭ninty9er

Forgot completely about the proxy, and LOADS of people have asked!

He doesn't take any crap in lectures, and can be pretty intimidating, but yeah. I had a brief chat with him outside the lecture, I think I was asking him about the project or something, and he couldn't have been nicer :)
