Cats for sure... He keeps me on my toes, I dont know if he wants to play, fight, eat or sleep. He's a tempermental, vindictive, cute, warm, palyful and a gentle spirit.

I do like dogs though but I hate Boxers, Bulldogs, Rottweilers and Mastiffs... Rotten looking things, better served in a hot curry.

Having had a cat and a two dogs I have to show my support for my canine companions. You cannot hope for a more loving, loyal or caring friend on four legs than a mutt. Dogs have a bit of personality while cats seem to be nothing more than empty vessels, if you took a cat from its master and replaced it with a similar looking one I would wager that they wouldn't even notice the switch.
Cats are sly, devious, selfish bastards without any form of empathy or love for their masters. I would look upon them as the mercenaries of the pet world, the animal equivalent of scumbags. I can't for one second imagine a cat doing this for its owner:

"You see, Greg, when you yell at a dog, his tail will go between his legs and cover his genitals, his ears will go down. A dog is very easy to break, but cats make you work for their affection. They don't sell out the way dogs do."

A quote from a character who if they were an animal would more than likely be a cat, cold, distrustful and completely oblivious to the wishes of the people around them

Dogs, deffo. They are generally happy and make you smile a lot quicker than cats. Cats suck. They don't do anything. Actually, neither does my dog. But at least I can take him for a walk sometimes.

    I like both.

Dogs for their general, good-natured friendliness and cats for their underlying criminal ethos.

    Cats.

Nothing against dogs, but having one as a pet wouldn't be my thing; too much looking after, yard space etc...not saying they don't award ownership or anything.

Cat; feed it, let it out/in, be generally ignored by it, very little love shown....but I can't help but love the damn things (currently two sets of kittens in my back garden). My only gripe with cats is their penchant for hunting small furry, feathery things. But hey, at least they don't maul children in the local park :pac:

    Dogs.

Dogs are truely loyal whereas cats are just in it for a feed. Plus they're evil.

I am very much a dog person. I like cats but prefer dogs. I'd rather a dog as a pet rather than a cat though. Cats are scary, dogs are loving!:D

    Like both but prefer cats.

Cats have no loyalty and just use you.

And if the neighbors leave out food or have a comfortable shed, your cat will ditch you without a second thought. And they are evil.

Ah dogs, a dog will love you as people should love each other :)
No expectations or I'll love you if you do this for me. It's just pure

Why did you put an apostrophe into the first plural of each word and not the second...?

I'm not really an animal person, but I think I prefer dogs 'cause they seem to have nicer characteristics... if that even makes sense?!

Dogs are OK, and they usually like me, but I'm definitely a cat person. If I visit someone who has a cat, it'll usually be on my lap in a matter of minutes, without prompting. They're a better match for my personality, I think: I dislike micro-management, prefer creatures that don't need me to tell them what to do. :P

I love both! Can't wait to get myself a house someday and i will have both. Cats are fantastic, they are bossy and take no ****, if you have both it's pretty much a guarantee that the cat is the boss. Dogs are great companions and will love you no matter what, which makes it even sadder when idiots abuse them. (At least a cat knows when to cut and run) I really do think they are both the perfect combination. :D

    where's the both option?!

i liked dogs all my life, then i warmed to the neighbours cat.

i have a cat now, love him, he's a poncey bastard.

    so.. both.

I like how dogs love you for basically nothing at all, but I grudgingly respect the cats independance, and admire their hard-to-get-ness.

Both, cats for their coolness, dogs for the unconditional loyalty.

I'm definitely a dog person. We always had dogs growing up and our last one died last year at the age of 13.

On the otherhand we never had cats. A little boy that I babysit has a cat and he kind of freaks me out - he is so stealthy it's possible to hear him when he is moving around the house. Dogs seem more friendly and lovable for some reason.
