Oh, good point, probably should have put a both option in really.

Although which animal do you prefer as a pet?

    Cats are interesting but evil.

Dogs obviously, not all dogs though, not those horrible ****ty mongrol terriers that bite and nip at your ankles, they should be put down along with their owners.

The majority of dogs are nice though.

    Dog!
Because they are loyal and fun. I think that they look hilarious when they get really excited at something like the beach, and run around like a mad yoke.:D

However, I strongly dislike small, yappy little things that try and bite me when I go for walks.

And you could spend hours petting a cat and it would get up, stretch, look at you in disdain and walk away.

2 other pets I really want to get are a rabbit and a pygmy hedgehog....Don't know where my fascination with them came from, but I think they're cool.

You're obviously not cooking them right!

I have both and love both.

People always think I'm a cat person because I have had a good few cats. However, if for some reason I was forced to choose between cats and dogs for the rest of my life I would have to choose dogs. I hate living without a dog.

Both, had a few dogs, last one died almost a year ago from old age and a heart problem, was supposed to get one of my uncles kittens but his dog killed it when he was playing with it, other option is a snake which I will hopefully be getting one once I have my own place.

Ive always loved hedgehogs, but now I found out there are even smaller ones Im soon going to get obsessed! :o:o Rabbits by the way are gorgeous pets, used to have them when I was younger and Im determined to have some again when I get my own place :) You should definately get one (or two ;))

I have 2 cats, so I must vote for cats.

I like dogs, but I just cannot imagine having to bag up warm poop when you walk a dog. With cats, you simply change the box.

Plus, a cat won't hump your leg!

hehe me either ..i couldnt vote for just one or the other. I feckin adore both of them...for different reasons. I had an amazing dog for 14 yrs (put to sleep in Jan), have a sound fella of a cat now. Cant in a million years compare the 2..Bi-lover! What can i say :D

I love the complete love you get from a dog, their smell, little looks, excited faces, moods...but equally as love the "couldnt care less" but secretly do-care attitude of cats. Ah..deadly little things both of them!

For balance in life, you need a cat to ignore you and a dog to adore you.

Jus looked them hedgehog things up and cant decide if theyre cute or creepy

Anyway Im definately a dog person.

Have had my dog for the past eleven years, n I love her, shes like a wee fluffy person :D

Couldnt imagine ever not having a dog.
Kittens are cute, but they grow up to be evil little bastards

Dogs are good, cats are also good...but better. There's no both option so I chose cats:pac:

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,882 ✭✭✭johndoe99

i have a 16 year old cat, my mother got 2 dogs last year, and they are scared sh**less of the cat. They'll bark and run after other cats, but as soon as my cat enters the room they cower in the corner, probably all the wallops she gives them.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 62 ✭✭Niche market

I would have to say dogs... simply because my wee doggy is just gawrgous :D and is well cuter then any oul cat! :p

And also i did get scratched by a cat when younger, which threw me right off!

I still would pet the odd pussy though...if required too ;)

Prefer cats. Dogs are far too needy.

Although my cat has F all loyalty!

Cats for sure... He keeps me on my toes, I dont know if he wants to play, fight, eat or sleep. He's a tempermental, vindictive, cute, warm, palyful and a gentle spirit.

I do like dogs though but I hate Boxers, Bulldogs, Rottweilers and Mastiffs... Rotten looking things, better served in a hot curry.

Having had a cat and a two dogs I have to show my support for my canine companions. You cannot hope for a more loving, loyal or caring friend on four legs than a mutt. Dogs have a bit of personality while cats seem to be nothing more than empty vessels, if you took a cat from its master and replaced it with a similar looking one I would wager that they wouldn't even notice the switch.
Cats are sly, devious, selfish bastards without any form of empathy or love for their masters. I would look upon them as the mercenaries of the pet world, the animal equivalent of scumbags. I can't for one second imagine a cat doing this for its owner:

"You see, Greg, when you yell at a dog, his tail will go between his legs and cover his genitals, his ears will go down. A dog is very easy to break, but cats make you work for their affection. They don't sell out the way dogs do."

A quote from a character who if they were an animal would more than likely be a cat, cold, distrustful and completely oblivious to the wishes of the people around them

Got two nutty Boxers and wouldn't change them for the world :D

But I've really nothing against Cats.

Dogs, deffo. They are generally happy and make you smile a lot quicker than cats. Cats suck. They don't do anything. Actually, neither does my dog. But at least I can take him for a walk sometimes.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 532 ✭✭✭King Felix

    I like both.

Dogs for their general, good-natured friendliness and cats for their underlying criminal ethos.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 11,909 ✭✭✭✭Wertz

    Cats.

Nothing against dogs, but having one as a pet wouldn't be my thing; too much looking after, yard space etc...not saying they don't award ownership or anything.

Cat; feed it, let it out/in, be generally ignored by it, very little love shown....but I can't help but love the damn things (currently two sets of kittens in my back garden). My only gripe with cats is their penchant for hunting small furry, feathery things. But hey, at least they don't maul children in the local park :pac:

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,675 ✭✭✭ronnie3585

    Dogs.

Dogs are truely loyal whereas cats are just in it for a feed. Plus they're evil.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,349 ✭✭✭✭starlit

I am very much a dog person. I like cats but prefer dogs. I'd rather a dog as a pet rather than a cat though. Cats are scary, dogs are loving!:D

Cats have no loyalty and just use you.

And if the neighbors leave out food or have a comfortable shed, your cat will ditch you without a second thought. And they are evil.

Ah dogs, a dog will love you as people should love each other :)
No expectations or I'll love you if you do this for me. It's just pure
