Jesus I remember them well! I got a big 10p coin and went straight back in and bought some more.:D
Loved Texan, the chewiest most yummiest bars. Striker and Dracula ice lollies. Peggy's leg another good one.
There was another bar but can't remember what it was called. It was really chewy, like a mix between
toffee and fudge but was covered in peanuts. Spangles, Cinder Toffee, YUM!!:D I remember when Mars Bars
had the thickest chocolate on the top and Rolos had real thick chocolate on the bottom. Mars Bars sure don't
taste as good as they used to:(

There was a bar out in the late 70s called Nutty. It was loads of peanuts all welded together by fudgy stuff. the wrapper was orange and transparent.I remember my mam and dad would go out on a Thurs night and would leave us a pound to spend between us, nutties were the bar of choice for a good while.

Yep that was them, ooh they were filling too. Another that comes to mind were these little sweets like skittles. Something like toots I think they were called, you'd get three for a penny or thereabouts. God you'd get a lot of sweets for a pound back then Anne. A drink, crisps, bars, ice lolly and loads of penny stuff. I remember when Tayto were only 5p  Jeez the price of a bag now

I know Appleblossum! For one pound we would get a big bottle of cadet coke, 4 packets of crisps and 4 bars starting off then as the prices rose we just ended up with the mineral and crisps. After the Nutties craze, we got Cadbury's Caramel bars, I too remember Tayto being 5p, Ricki Rasper ice pops (very young when these were out) being 3p and Polp mints being 5p.
When I was about 10, I was given 50p to spend on a Saturday. My friend and I would go up the town. I'd get an ice pop, a bun, sweets of some kind and a ping pong ball to play with on the way home:).

Yep,a little went a long way years ago. Bars have gotten smaller and more expensive, crisps are mad prices now(Rancheros=65c!!!!!). A tenpenny mixture probably costs a Euro now!

They don't make them anymore i'm afraid.
The closest you'll get to them are the nik naks purple packet.
You can get a 10 pack in most €2 shops, and can get them in Dunnes too.

You must be the same vintage as me. I remember Mr Spud (non-crinkled, slightly less flavoured than Tayto). Wasn't much option back then, Tayto, Mr Spud, Perri, King (which always seemed more burned than Tayto) and Pub crisps, which my uncle used to buy me in the pub. And I don't rmeember any other flavours that Cheese and Onion or Salt and Vinegar.

Mr Spud not familiar to me surprisingly 'cos I've been around for a fair while. Remember when Sam Spudz used to have the wee comic strip story on the packet?:)...King crisps did taste a bit burned and sometimes the edges were black. My granny and uncle from Cavan would always bring them for us when they were visiting.

I remember the comic strip on Sam Spudz. They reminded me of the old Steve Silvermint ads for Silvermints.

Is that in Killarney by any chance? Looks familiar. I used to love going to visit my granny in Cornwall as a kid, in her village there was an amazing little sweet shop and they measured out scoops of sweets into little brown triangular bags. The walls were lined with glass jars of sweets so lovely.
I miss those chalky chite sticks that were like cigarettes. Also those chalky violet ones that came in a tiny tube, anyone remember them? They had a wierd almost synthetic perfumey taste to them.
I'm been smiling from ear to ear reading this thread, it's funny how emotionally attached you become to the little things in life.

Spangles, Splicer, Toffo, Opal Fruits, Marathon bars, Treets, Jelly Tots... I'm surprised I still have a full set of teeth! And then there were the soft drinks, One, Yoplait and Um Bongo...

I've never been able to find Penny Peaches.

They are a peach/orange coloured foam (but not Marshmallow)
like sweet with a surgery like coating on them. I adored them.
I know there are Jelly peaches but cant
    find the foam based ones.

    Like these only in Peach!

Woppas! Cola and Mint flavour! Remember nearly crashing my bike cycling home from school trying to eat one of these, you'd have to stretch it a foot before it broke off.

Desperate Dan and Roy of the Rover bars were another favourite...

Would anybody have any idea who made the 2 and 2 bar? My friend is obsessed with them. Personally I think it sounds mank but I am a Cadburys girl :D

    Was'nt it Urney's made the 2+2.....?

    Heres one...Steve Heighway crisps....Steve who...????:p

And this ice lolly....It was on a plastic stick which had a kind of platform half way up the stick, and in the ice cream (which i can actually taste as i'm typing) there would be a soldier, cowboy ,indian...lots of different colours and you'would'nt know which one you got till you ate the ice cream.....mmmmmmm...cant think of the name though...i'm guessin HB as this was back in the early 70's...

I remember a bar called Catch in a red wrapper. I think it had rice crispies in the filling.
Also prise out your fillings with a Big Time toffee bar.
Revels and Minstrels (although I think these might have been relaunched)

Maybe some of these are still around but I certainly remember them from my youth:

    Old Jamaica bar
    Candy Lipstick
    Macaroon bar
    Nunch bar
    Banjo bar
"Go out get Freshers! Go out get Freshers!"
    Mud Pies
    Vovos
    Outer Spacers
    Tab and Fresca
    Toffits
    Munchies

The ad for Catch went like this......

    Catch it if you can
    On the outside is chocolate
    And underneath the chocolate
    is
    crispy

    Catch it if you can
    There's more to tell
    With the crispiest creamiest caramel

    First there's crispy
    Then there's creamy

    CATCH!

Cant believe it all just came back to me as well!!
