I'm quite picky; don't like onions, mushrooms, tomatoes, cabbage and most other vegetables (partially because my sister told me if I ate them they'd kill me when I was very young and never liked them from then, pretty much because of the texture!) and salads, and many fruits (kiwis to name one); don't really like plain potatoes with nothing on them (e.g. Gravy) or floury chips because theyre quite bland but like them as fries or fried potatoes or just like with gravy or beans or something nice on them! also dont really like chops cuz of the fat on them, blegh.

Not mad about vegetables. In particular, i really despise cucumber. I can even smell that poxy stuff a mile off and it makes me nauseous.

One of my friends won't anything with cream, milk, cheese, chicken (or any birds), sweetcorn, spinach, bread, (won't eat sandwiches or pizza), doesn't drink water (milk or juice) and is generally an absolute pain to cook for. Ugh.

People like that generally piss me off, nobody can be that picky can they?

Take it or leave it then or fcuk off

I can't stand fish 'cause it tastes like carp (for the most part), texture isn't an issue. Apart from that I'll eat nearly anything.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,723 ✭✭✭Cheap Thrills!

I'll eat everything mostly. Am pretty much a dusty bin!!

There are a few things I draw the line at though:
    Liver, heart, brains, tongue etc
    Snickers bars and currants! Euw!

Although I'll happily eat the whole animal when it's presented as a sausage! :P YUM

Was a veggie for years, ahhh the wilderness years....what a waste of taste buds!!!

I hate when people do that :pac:
"no thanks I don't like it"
"ah you might you should try it sure it hardly even has a taste"
    "I said no thanks"
"but it tastes lovely, nom nom"

how does it not have a taste and taste lovely! Stop lying! I don't like it and I don't need to be coaxed like a child!

I cant eat fruit or nuts not necessarily because of the taste but because of the texture. I've tried eating foods with fruit and nuts in them but i always have to give up because i reach a point where i can't stand to eat any more of them.

I think that makes you what's called a 'super-taster'. Apparently people with really sensitive tastebuds can detect a horrible flavour in cucumber when others can't.

Sometimes it's not the taste, but the texture. Rice doesn't really have a taste but I'd eat a whole plate of it on it's own because of the texture. Delish.

There's also the idea of supertasters where a person has more tastebuds than the average so picks up bitter tastes more strongly.

Only found out about this at the weekend.

Yep, that's it. I hate my supertaster tastebuds. I can't eat cucumber, peppers, a fair few other veg, or spicy food. When I tried to tell my mum about the foul taste of cucumber she looked at me like I had just said that I see extra colours or could hear thoughts or something.

Yeah, mushrooms have a disgusting texture. Yuuuck.

Pepper! I hate pepper. I know you said peppers but it reminded me.

And any food with alcohol. No amount of "sure I only put a bit in I bet you can't really taste it " yes I can, go away

What about alcohol with food? Olive in Martini for example.

I think picky eaters are only a new thing. In the past, in the time of my parents growing up, if you were picky about what you ate you didn't eat! Nowadays there is a lot more choice, so people tend to grow up more picky - probably carried forward from childhood.

I wouldn't consider myself a picky eater but there are certain foods I wouldn't go near. I detest bananas - I can't be in the same room as an unpeeled banana because of the smell, and I make my family keep the bananas separate from all the other fruit.

Strangely my twin brother loves bananas - he makes banana sandwiches and everything, it's actually disgusting. The bananas he uses sometimes have dark spots and everything on them. I feel sick just thinking about it :(

You can't really call them a vegetable when the ratio of potato to butter used with em' is 1:1 :o

They're just plain old bad for you then

my mother thinks i'm picky because i refuse to eat a massive helping of potatoes everyday with dinner, while we need carbohydrates we don't need potatoes covered in milk, butter and salt and mashed

also i hate nuts, cabbage and sprouts
i also cannot abide milk on it's own, i heave when i drink it

I just can't eat onions. The texture is what does it for me. And lentils are just terrible. Most other things are great. I also feel bad for people who can't eat cucumbers, I love them so. Oh and tomatoes. I just don't like them peeled but every other way is great!

Mushrooms now..thats a whole different sickening dinner altogether :eek:

I can't stand mashed potatoes. Ughhhh.. The texture and taste.. Roast is great though.

Although I eat very little veg. Roast potatoes or kumra, carrots, bamboo shoots, courgettes, capsicum, lettuce. Thats as much as I can think of. Rest is blurgh

Ah mushrooms, my achilles heal as such. I don't like the littles fcukers i must admit. Its a combination of things, the rubbery texture, the vomit enducing smell & of course the fact that they taste weird.
To me they taste like something that should not be eaten by humans?!

Agree 100%. It is a pity though that my works canteen insists on putting mushrooms in everything. I also cannot eat eggs or anything with eggs in it, like mayonnaise and all the sandwiches at work have that included.

I can't eat any cold sauces. Red sauce, mayo, garlic sauce, brown sauce, can't stand any of them.
Worst is when they put red sauce on a burger and then people say just scrape it off. Can you scrape water off a sponge?

Mushrooms are one of the only things that I've tasted so far that I'm not fond of. They have a 'fleshy' or 'meaty' texture.... but they're from a fungus???!

But I've tried them plenty of times just to make sure I don't like 'em. If they were in a sauce, pie, or on a pizza or something I've no problem horsin them in to me gob!

The O/H is a fussy c**t when it comes to food. She does my head in sometimes being so picky!
