    Good to see.

Al Jazeera news indicates many mosques in Europe being used for the promotion of terrorism.

HAMBURG, Germany — German police on Monday shut down a mosque in Hamburg frequented by suicide hijackers from the September 11, 2001 attacks and suspected of recruiting jihadists, authorities said.

An affiliated cultural centre called Taiba was also banned.

"Hamburg must not become a cradle of violent Islamists," the city-state's chief interior affairs official, Christoph Ahlhaus, told reporters.

"We closed the Taiba mosque today because young men were converted to religious fanatics there. A purported cultural association shamelessly exploited the freedoms of our democratic state under the rule of law to recruit for holy war behind the scenes."

Three of the September 11 hijackers including their ringleader Mohammed Atta, who piloted the first plane into New York's World Trade Center, met regularly at the mosque before moving to the United States.

Authorities said it had served for several years as a recruitment centre for Islamic extremists, including accomplices of the hijackers, and offered logistical and financial assistance to militants.

From what was said on Al Jazeera news more mosques in Europe will be closed

Great. We can shut down Donnehy and Nesbitt's next as it's frequented by gangsters.

After all the Germans have been through, you'd think they'd know better than to be targeting minority groups. I'm sure the growing skinhead population are delighted.

About bloody time Islam has no place anywhere on the continent of Europe and the sooner that Europe moves to eradicate it from our continent the better. Islam is not a minority group by the way is fastly becoming the largest mass Religion on Earth. The Swiss have banned Minarets, France is tackling the Burkha, What has Ireland done? Squat Diddly thats what. Islamofacism is the greatest threat we face in the west and I for one cannot wait to see Sarah Palin elected President of the United States in 2012, Islam will soon be all but a bad memory by the end of her reign.

God Bless our Freedom and our Christian values, Religions that do not believe in freedom of religion are themselves exempt and should be banned.

For some reason old aussie, I get the feeling that you'd be happy to see every mosque in Europe closed down.

What people are those exactly? Do you know of any Muslims in Ireland who provide material support for terrorist groups? As opposed to Christians in Ireland who have long been supporters of certain terror groups up north.

They're not targeting minority groups they're targeting terrorists, to prevent any gutless muslim terrorist attacks on Germany.

    Nasty little person, aren't you?

I believe Christians and Muslims have a lot in common when it comes to opposing tendencies towards aggressive secularism.

Sarah Palin fan eh? How naive you really are. US politics is a puppet show. "Tea party" supporter, are you?

I'd have no problem with Islam if it did not preach such hate and any Religion that tells it mass followers that to kill Christians will lead them into Martyrdom with 70 virgins awaiting is not a religion imo but an evil cult. You should read up on how Christians, Jews, Hindus and Buddhists are treated in Islamic countries before you go calling me a bigot. Islam is inherently evil and incompatible with all other religions of peace.

    OPPOSITION GROWING to NEW MOSQUES

    http://liveshots.blogs.foxnews.com/2010/08/09/opposition-growing-to-new-mosques/

Opposition to new mosques is growing across the country where concerned residents do not want to see more mosques built in their communities. From California to Connecticut, there have been recent protests against both existing and proposed new mosques.

At a July rally near Nashville, angry protestors spoke against a proposed 15-acre site that some fear could be turned into a militant training ground. The mosque leader says he's been there for 12 years and congregants are just enlarging their religious facility.

The controversies are now attracting more attention nationwide.
"The New York Times" featured a front page article just yesterday, reporting that "opponents have said their problem is Islam itself. They quote passages from the Koran and argue that even the most Americanized Muslim secretly wants to replace the Constitution with Islamic Shariah law."

The paper notes that Islamic leaders are disheartened by the apparent trend and criticize the hostility as totally unwarranted.

Some mosques are going further. Muslim leaders in Connecticut are asking for police protection of worshippers after a protest was held against a Bridgeport Mosque last week. Reports say the protestors stayed for about an hour and left without incident.

    1. Linking to blogs proves nothing.
    2. Linking to foxnews.com proves nothing.
    3. Linking to a blog on foxnews.com is a really bad idea.

In saying that, closing a mosque is idiotic. All you do is alienate the Muslims in the locality and the weaker minded will just turn to fanaticism.

Might have something to do with the fact that Germany is a democratic, lawful country. They don't just go and close a mosque/church/cultural institution just because some unsavoury elements once went there.

The collection of evidence to justify the closure must have taken a while.

They closed one Mosque and attached "cultural centre". Hardly targetting a minority group, in a country with one of the highest Muslim populations on the continent.

Closing some mosques will hardly make them say "Oh well that's knocked the terrorism thing on the head. Someone pass the pork chops and beer". This will just add to their persecution complex and radicalise them further imo. At least the police could keep an eye on them while they knew where they were meeting

Yea but would you be 100% confident leaving your child in the care of a priest? Or confident about the business success of an Irish pub that only sold alcohol free drinks? No smoke without fire and all that :p:D

Actually the catholic kiddie fiddler comparison isnt far off IMO. Are all clergy child abusers? hell no. Are most? Hell no again. Are the vast majority of clergy and laity utterly repelled by such acts? Hell yes. Were they when it was at its peak? Yes again. So how did so many of these animals get away with it then? Because blind eyes were shown. The vast majority, looked the other way when the minority perpetrated these acts.

Ditto with Muslims in vague contact with their nutjobs. Add in the feeling of oppression and an element of crusade against them and the stage is set for even more to look away at best, or grudgingly support those who perpetrate acts of terror. Just like the IRA/UVF closer to home.

Many worry about Artificial Intelligence. I worry far more about Organic Idiocy.

Yeah, but sure didn't Jesus himself say that it's best to turn the other cheek?
Sure they were only being good Catholics.

Turn the other cheek when people hurt you is one thing, turning a blind eye to kids being abused is very different.
