There was another guy on in the 90's on 98fm... can't remember his name though, not Chris Barry, but <something> Boyle?
The first time I heard it they had one of the show's producers sitting on the street pretending to be homeless, and noting the reactions he got live on the air... that was pretty interesting.
Eventually it descended into shíte with joke/fake segments based around some of the show's more whacky callers... they went off the air soon afterwards.

They've done that on Adrian Kennedy aswell.

Didn't Adrian get the crap kicked out of him one night doing an outside broadcast years ago? Or is that a just a myth?

That was his roving reporter at the time Niall Boylan that went on to present a show on 98fm after Chris Barry left the station.

There is a creepy guy who rings in alot who's in a wheelchair named Zoltan. He fancies fat women and when the recent study about obese pregnant women being at risk came out he was arguing they are fine being obese. Was eh........disturbing.

Do you think Chris Barry will ever go back to radio or will he stick with the magic shows?

I listened to it a few months ago, was a classic, they were having a debate about girls wearing pyjamas around the place. Went something like this-

Adrian: Not really, but anyway. What about the hygiene side of things? I mean wearing the same pair all week long, I take it you don't shower too regularly if you just wear your PJs all day.

Girl: No no no adreedun, i do have a showor after aye wake up so i doo, gwan i'm hardly duurty like. aye just purra new pair on aftur, nuttin wrong wirrih at all adreedun, djaknowwarra mean adreedun?

Girl: aa course aye would adreedun!! shure ders nuttin wrong wirrih, jaysis yid swear i woz kamittin a cry-um or sumtin.

Adrian: Well, your choice I suppose. So, tell me this, would you go out to the pub or a nightclub in your PJs then?

The other guy on 98fm produced a consistently interesting show, more well controlled and I dare say more articulate callers... before it got shít anyway.

They really need to give people 60 seconds to make their point, one at a time, then boot them off the air. I heard a show like that in the UK, it worked really well, the host took no shít at all, if the caller was interesting they were allowed to stay on and flesh out their point with some good questioning from the host, but if they were unable to get right to the point or had nothing more to say they were dropped and sometimes even slagged off by the host.

Ha. I think he's on a country station now or some East Coast radio type of station.

That was Niall Boylan but he mysteriously was booted from the station. Dunno why.

I like TalkSport in the UK. Most of the presenters kick people off if they don't have anything interesting to say.

Yeah, Niall Boylan, I got that from your earlier post, cheers, that would have bothered me.
I can't say I'm that surprised he disappeared, the show got very weird towards the end... doing completely fake troll segments just for reactions.

Yeah TalkSport that was the one... excellent hosts and a great format.
I haven't heard it in years, but I remember one of the hosts really ripping into a caller before, during and after cutting him off... brilliant.
Adrian Kennedy, as a host, seems spineless and aloof by comparison.

I dunno. I guess Adrian can only work with the listeners that ring in.

James Whale, Mike Dickin and Ian Collins is who I used to listen to. Was probably one of them. :)

I started listening to it years ago when Chris Barry was on 104, Adrian and his sidekick were never as good. The topics now consist of 'Do you sleep with prostitutes' or 'Do you mind if your fella sleeps with prostitutes'.

Do people still ring up and call him Chris :D

James Whale now works on Londons LBC 97.3 ( he has the late afternoon show) which is basically a talk show radio station, well worth listening to some great hosts, you can get the station online or on sky digital, definitely a different type of phone in to Adrian Kennedys show, a lot more serious but always listen to LBC during the night.

When i first moved away from home(to Longford) the only radio station i could get on my radio was talksport and i used to listen to James Whale every night. That man did not care what he said or who he said it to.

Big time :D haven't listened to the show for a number of years now, but he was still getting called Chris in 2005, which is obviously years after he took over the show :D

Yeah I looked up the TalkSport there and none of them are on it any more. Mike Dickin died a few years ago in a car crash.

Is he on that now? I remember when he had the late night show on ITV Night time. Must be 92 or so. Sounds like he hasn't changed much.

Haven't listened to it in years because I've moved, used to love it, switch it on and fall asleep listening to a granny fighting with a taxi driver arguing with a scumbag who's fighting with a Blackrawk boy...

That, and all the Southsiders riding the high horse on it. Listen here mate, like, you don't know what you're talking about, you haven't "experienced" it. That line was rolled out night after night by posh lads.

And of course all the northsider comments that have been posted already.

And for God's sake, is Zoltan still ringing in? I was hoping he'd be dead by now, the only caller I was ever disappointed with..

Is Adrian still getting the odd death threat from the druglords and their families? :pac:

My favourite caller to the AK show was Mandy with the 11 kids for 11 different men. It was ok to listen to for a while but it ended up being the same stuff week after week.

Joan's still knocking about too I think.
