As everyone should know, mdma used to be used for various therapies before being outlawed by the powers that be. Now it's finally being recognised again.

    Article: http://www.alternet.org/story/147624/80_of_posttraumatic_stress_sufferers_lost_symptoms_after_taking_ecstasy__studys_results?page=1
    Report: http://jop.sagepub.com/content/early/2010/07/14/0269881110378371.full.pdf+html
80% of Post-Traumatic Stress Sufferers Lost Symptoms After Taking Ecstasy -- Study's Results

After MDMA-assisted psychotherapy, over 80% of sufferers from post traumatic stress disorder no longer met the diagnostic criteria for PTSD, as compared to only 25% in the control group. This study, just released, was conducted by Michael Mithoefer, M.D. (and his colleagues) and is published in the peer-reviewed Journal of Psychopharmacology.

According to the media release, MDMA could "offer sufferers a vital window with reduced fear responses where psychotherapy can take effect." MDMA is also called Ecstasy.

    ....

I think it's a good thing.. In the report, it says this testing was the first in two decades since it became illegal and since it's pretty much harmless in a controlled environment, I hope it happens more.

    Fixed your post.

It used to be used in marriage guidance in the sixties, I think. A couple of doses and the love buzz melted all the problems away.

And some psycho-therapists would use it to help patients with various issues. (Alexander Shulgin wrote about he would synthesize it and supply them in the U.S., after it was made illegal, in his book PIKHAL).

It's a great drug for negaing the ego so I'd imagine it has plenty of value in psychotherapy/psychology.

There are gonna be some bangin' therapy sessions in the future. Proper cathartic, like.

    As everyone should know

Why should everyone know this? You sound like you just want it legalized so you can take it without fear of being caught by the cops. Ecstacy is the most fake and stupid drug ever

Seen some things man. And some stuff.
    Wouldn't recommend it.

Practically every substance can be rendered pretty much harmless in a controlled environment.

What's a fake drug? And we're not talking about ecstacy here.

What's your point? I'm saying it should be tested more for therapy uses. Which is a controlled environment.

I mean the effect is fake. Going around hugging everyone like like theyre your best friends even though you've never met them. Talking **** with people you'd normally never associate with. That's the kind of fake I mean. And correct me if I'm wrong but MDMA and ecstacy are the same thing are they not?? Well... except from all the extra "toppings" you get with street ecstacy such as rat poison etc. Basically if you took ecstacy without the MDMA you probably wouldn't feel much. What you're saying is like "beer and alcohol are not the same thing"

And what the fuck is wrong with that? Better than getting pissed and doing the opposite.

    Have you ever taken it?

The viability of mdma as a therapy is limited at best.

Yes I've taken it a few times. There's nothing wrong with it at the time, don't get me wrong it feels great.. It's the feeling afterwards when it wears off and you feel like a total prat. I've done some stupid things when I took this drug but now that I'm older and wiser I realize what a thick I must have looked like. Still dancing like a madman while off my head with the music blasting it a good feeling but all this BS about using it for therapy and counselling.... :P:P:P Good luck hippies :P:P:P

Having spent a few years in the real world I can tell you I get a lot more fullfillment from not bothering with drugs but living my life instead. I felt the same way as you when I was about 19-20, I was really pro-drug but looking back I was actaully just really depressed and drugs were just an escape. Sad really. Anyway enjoy popping your pills

They're effectively the same but mdma is much much cleaner.
And ecstacy rarely has mdma in it..

MDMA is the shortened "generic" name, ecstasy is the "brand" name.

Ok you're obviously somebody who loves taking ecstacy and would like it legalised but how far would you go to make it legal? Would you march outside the dail? Would you go up against armed riot police?

Ask yourself this: Are you defending your freedom to take drugs or are you defending the drug itself because you get a feeling from it that you can't get in the real world?

If the answer is the former..I salute you. If it's the latter you have a real problem.

PS. I'm not anti-drug I'm pro-freedom. Is lying in an alleyway with a needle in your arm freedom? You're nothing but a rebellious fool.
