First of all, you don’t know this treatment is a cure for the disease.

From what I've heard, having marrow extracted is very painful for the donor. Supposing there were enough altruists in the world, we then reach the problem of manpower, or lack thereof. I doubt all the surgeons in the world capable of carrying out this procedure could even begin to carry out your plan, even if they were working around the clock.

In an alternate universe where everyone's a doctor, we’d still have to cover the cost. Now, this webpage is unsourced and possibly unreliable, but we’ll use it for argument’s sake. It says bone marrow surgery costs around $250,000 in the US, £150,000 in the UK, “only” $30,000 in India. Going by the cheapest treatment available, it would still cost $30,000,000 to cure 1,000 people of HIV. In an impoverished developing country, I think you could help more than 1,000 people with that kind of money.

Stop digging, for your own sake.

Digging for my own sake, whats digging about saying i believe they have cures? What are you worried about what i think for?
My plan? they are the ones who expressed it not me:rolleyes:

What I don't really get is....All these companies for like africa and stuff "these children/people have hiv, please donate money to them!"
And if you do so...the chances are they'll just have sex and create more hiv infected people!

    Where's the logic in that?

yes, but ignorance is a different beast to dyslexia entirely. how many times have fianna fail met up to discuss the recession? by your rational we should all be shítting out golden eggs by now, since they wouldn't be talking about finding solutions if the didn't have one, would they?

you obviously don't know our caseyann, she's a very clever troll who never quite breaks the rules, and is the personification of a technicality.

not only does she enjoy winding people up, she hates de fordiners, the lisbon treaty, has 247 academic degrees (plus 978 honorary doctorates), none of which are in english though. she refuses point blank to give in to reason, logic, evidence or common sense and on a number of occasions has voiced her particular disdain for interracial relationships. i think her real name is the reverend doctor something or other.

imagine winning this wonderful catch on blind date!

They are going to die anyway,if i had it i know i would want them to do it and save me from life of dying like that.

If it isn't already, that should be a song lyric.

It seems quite obvious to the OP that a cure is being withheld on a) financial grounds or b) because scientists feel like it. Or maybe because they want to party in Vienna first.

I don't think any of your rubbish like evidence or logic is going to change her mind.

aaaahhh, so they're meeting in vienna to try to coax the bilderbergers into letting us have the magical elixir of life? now i get it, thanks for clearing that up for me giselle ;)

Midge Ure had the cure all along and has been mocking us.

All that Africa stuff was a way to stick money in his pocket while taking the focus off the fact he had a cure.

    Live AID! Coincidence?

And this, the biggest spit in our faces! He had been planning this meeting all along........

    this thread:
    http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055718614&page=6
I know its bad but no way would my daughter marry outside her colour.I couldn't agree with it and not just because of colour but so many other reasons also.
I was watching a programme on tv and this girl was with her partner for 3 years, and had had two babies and his parents still didn't know she existedconfused.gif Because she wasn't Muslim. She is changing her religion and then he will tell themrolleyes.gif
So all ok for other races to be racist because majority of them sure as hell don't want different race nor religion in their household but we aren't allowed to have our beliefs.

and this thread, where you need protecting from foreigners to ensure you don't have to lower yourself to working in a shop:
    http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055694822

see caseyann, evidence is a powerful tool in support of an argument, no?

Did you also see me write people can marry whom ever they want and i havent got a problem with that, you forgot to get that part didnt you?

I dont need to explain myself to you :)

Wow, from the evidence it looks as though Caseyann doesn't need other people to show her ignorance, she does that pretty well herself.

Apparently white people can marry whomever they want, as long as your child doesn't marry 'outside her colour'. Because without ever meeting this future partner, you've decided it can't be in his/her best interest.

In my view (and most other reasonable peoples), thats racist. If you express racist views, you can expect to be called racist. It certainly implies hate.

I agree with you on the personal attacks but tell me this: do you think the posters in this thread who have challenged you (everyone) with you are wrong or disagreeing with you because they're mean?

This isn't some vague piece of prose or poetry which can be interpreted at the readers' discretion; either they have a cure for HIV or they don't. The way I'm reading it, they have a possible lead in the search for a cure for the virus, albeit one that will be inaccessible to anyone but the wealthy, that they will be discussing at the upcoming conference. I think everyone else here will agree with this interpretation.

It is quite frustrating debating with someone when they will not address your rebuttals, but instead keep repeating their initial point.

I don't actually think Caseyann is a troll. I think she truly believes all she says.

    Which is much, much worse.

    And back to the thread.
If they have this process on the table,it feels to me that it has been tested and been brought to the meeting,to be talked about and given the funding and more open testing for it as a cure.

Well when the first post to the article was aimed at my comment that had a  at the end of it and then the next was another smart comment. When the thread is not about what i think but meant to have been about the article in first place.I lost all interest in been anyway bothered to rebut anything.

Actually, a helpful suggestion: Why don't you take this to the Health Sciences forum? Qualified medics post there, and their views might carry more weight than ours.

A second opinion, if you will.

Sorry for you what i feel is best interest for my child is not any concern of yours and if you consider it racist i dont really give a damn.I have never in my life shown any animosity or hatred to any race unless they deserved it for who they are.My private ways of living has nothing what so ever to do with you :)

This will be the only time that I will ever address you. I can't decide if you are a troll or just don't understand much of anything but I'm going to assume it's the latter then will leave you to it.

The procedure hasn't been tested as a treatment for HIV.

Nor is it ever likely to be. Bone marrow transplants are extremely high risk...in some instances 40% of people getting one can die from it. Nobody is going to volunteer to have one when there are alternative treatments that keep people alive for decades and in a state of relative health, nor would any trial testing it get ethical approval.

Now to make the most important point again, there is not a cure for HIV/AIDS at this point in time.
