Hey, just wondering if anyone can give me some advice. I'm 27 and female, and want to try my hand at boxing. I don't want to compete, just go to a boxing gym and avail of the facilities and get direction on what I am supposed to be doing. I don't want to go to just a normal gym as I want to get involved in the sport. I tried kickboxing a few years ago, but it was a mixed ages class, so felt a bit weird when you were partnered up with a kid and told to kick, so I would rather adult classes!! I don't have a fortune to spend and am located in the South East of Dublin, I don't mind traveling as long as it's not hours away. Thanks

    Hi there,
This is the fitness forum, so you may not get the best answer here.

There is a dedicated boxing forum here:
    http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/forumdisplay.php?f=568

There's also a Self Defense and Martial Arts forum here:
    http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/forumdisplay.php?f=264
I'm sure you could get info on Boxing / Kick Boxing / Thai Boxing there too.

    Best of luck with it.

White collar boxing? Snappy title, no electrical tape on the heavy bags for them! :D

There is a new ladies only Muay Thai class at bridgestone (link in my sig). If you tried and enjoyed kickboxing you'll almost certainly enjoy this, probably more. :) (yes, I am biased) There are no kids in it either.

In the 7 years since, the OP turned out to have a natural talent and won bronze at the 2012 Olympics. Turned pro then and signed to Top Rank and made her pro debut in 2014.

Has had 7 pro fights before a bad ACL injury in a freak accident at the gym and has just had one fight on the comeback trail since coming back after 15 months out.

    Keep an eye out.
