It doesn't matter which currency we use, we'll still get ripped off. The price we're paying won't look that much...

Wouldn't make a difference as I wouldn't have any of either.

I think we should have the British Pound. It would bring us a little step forward to re-uniting Ireland to the UK.

It might be economic madness to base a decision on this, but the punt was much better looking money. I remember going into shops back in the day with a single pound in my pocket and walking out with two litres of milk, a choc ice, a loaf of bread and a small box of washing powder. I didn't pay for any of that stuff, but it still felt like real money back then.

Irish money was sh*te.... well, the coins anyway - they were far too big & made little sense... a 5p piece was the smallest, there were two different sizes of 10p, one of them was smaller than the 2p piece & a 1p piece was almost as big as the smaller 10p piece.

I liked the design of the 50p piece, but the Punt was always worth f*ck all when you went to exchange money to go anywhere. The Euro is a lot handier.

If we went back to the punt, it would likely become viewed internationally as a weak currency.
And our external debt needs to be paid off in terms of euro's.
So, if we reverted back to the punt, we would have to spend much more money in paying back our debts than if we stick with the euro.

When we have our debts fully, or almost fully, paid back then I would like to see us get the punt back. As somebody said, it's good to be able to devalue our currency to make ourselves more competitive (although poorer) overnight.

I like not having to exchange currency everytime I travel within the eurozone

    Bring back the punt!

The Irish currency was stronger than the Euro! Not economically, I mean it was physically stronger! You wouldn't see the classic Irish five pound note crumbling into something resembling used tissue the way you do today with the current pathetic five euro note.

    Euro is handier for travelling.

But I miss the old one punt note, where you could go up to the shop and actually buy the shop and every person in it.

Euro for me. Maybe I'm being unpatriotic but the punt is in the past. To revive it makes no social or economic sense.

Don't think it would make any difference, prices would still be too high in punts or euros!

Punt, it reminds me of the time when Ireland was a better more friendly and down to Earth country...
