I got Digitial Devil sega and another one, forget offhand (Set in a junkyard) in a car boot sale in swords on sunday. 7 Euro for both.

Took a spin to the square again to Extradeal (I swear I'll become addicted to that place :P)

Cleaned out of GBA games (I think someone here posted that they bought them all) All they left was Bratz and The sims 2 :(

They had a few more of the PS1 dualshocks and GBA link cables and Horizontal PS2 stands all 99c each bar the PS2 stands, I think they're €2.99

Mostly all sports games now at the counter. They have some loose PSP games too for €1.99. Just picked up MGS Portable Ops plus as I had most of the good titles there and the rest were sports.

If anyone wants me to pick up some of this stuff for them just let me know and we can sort out a trade or something :)

I'll gladly pay the 99c for one of those ps2 stands! :)

I think they're €2.99 for some reason. Want me to pick one up anyway?

Set in a scrapyard? Not sure what that is. There's Persona 3 + 4, Digital Devil Saga 1 and 2, SMT: Nocturne (Lucifiers call in europe, maybe this one and it's not set in a scrapyard but a post apocalyptic earth) and Demon summoner 1 + 2. Norsure what one you got.

I've been looking for MGS Portable Ops Plus and a GBA link cable if you're going there again. I'll pay you whatever the cost and P&P, or if you want a game from the list I put up.

I don't think they have any more MGS's but I'll have a look anyways. I'll get you the link cable anyway.

No worries, I'll probably head down tomorrow morning and get it.

I accept cash, cheque and all major credit cards :) And any games you may have.

Cheers. Are they the link cables that connect to other GBAs or the Gamecube? I only want the Gamecube link cable; so don't worry about it if it's not. If there are any PS1 dualshocks knocking about, I'll pay you for that too!

    Here's my list: http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showpost.php?p=66643049&postcount=319

If you don't want anything there, I'll just settle up with you via Paypal if that's okay?

    How much?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,183 ✭✭✭✭Atavan-Halen

Just GBA to GBA. Unfortunately none of the GC to GBA ones. I need one of them myself :P You still want one?

I'll pick up a Dualshock anyway and swap for Banjo-Kazooie?

It wasn't that cheap, think it might have been 17.99 but wasn't paying too much attention. Fully boxed though.

Yeah it's lucifers call, had not played it much when I wrote the comment. Actually not at all. but the blurb on the box said something about junkyard.

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 53,251 CMod ✭✭✭✭Retr0gamer

Oh right I forgot, Junkyard is the name they give the destoryed Tokyo, Haven't played much of it myself. I had backup of it but only got the American version there on Tuesday myself and plan to get stuck into it soon but I'm currently addicted to Persona 4. I've heard it's absolutely superb though but very tough. Lucifiers Call, the PAL version is very hard to find, I got Nocturne for 30 canadian dollars new so you got a bit of a bargain considering it was going for 80 euros not so long ago until Nocturne got a very limited rerelease.

Guess I got a lucky find. Not much to be found a that car boot sale, no other retro games. Nothing older than ps2 actually.

    Ah feck!
Bought Bayonetta again, I traded it in a couple of weeks back, I then had a change of heart, saw it had dropped in price, 17.99 in HMV, so got it, only to buy it for the wrong format!
Now I have it for the PS3 but my save game is on the 360!
    Arse!
So, anyone have the 360 edition and would like to swap?

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 53,251 CMod ✭✭✭✭Retr0gamer

Not a chance, the PS3 version is one of the worst conversions ever and riddled with graphical problems! Bring it back and say you bought the wrong version for your son. Play the clueless parent.

Back in the Square again today :P

They had some more GBA games in so got NES Classics Metroid for 99c.

Also got an Eyetoy chat bundle for €2.99. Not for the "game" or eyetoy but because it came with the network adaptor. It says HDD on it so I was a bit confused, thinking it may be a hard drive. Unfortunately it's not but still an odd, useless thing to slap onto the extention port on the PS2 :P

It's far from it actually. You can do a HDD exploit using those network adapters. You can use a HD up to 120GB, load it with games, play imports from it and the other benefit is that your laser won't wear out and you get faster load times. Those adapters can go for quite a bit since people want them so they can do the HDD exploit. I've my PS2 exploited like this and it's worth it knowing I won't be burning out yet another PS2 laser and the load times are great!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,183 ✭✭✭✭Atavan-Halen

Hmm, does it have to be the official PS2 HDD ?

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 53,251 CMod ✭✭✭✭Retr0gamer

Nope any HD will do. I think there's a size limit though. It was 120GB but I think the new HDloader and HD Launcher software can handle more. You might as well do it, it's free and not too tough. There should be tutorials for it.

Is the PS2 laser wearing out a common problem? I know you've mentioned it a few times that you've had problems with it, I thought it was a rock solid console. Still using my original machine and never had a problem with it, modded PS2 slim works perfect too. The only machine I've ever had problems with is the 360 (on my third now I think), who hasn't with that I suppose.

Got some more goodies in the post:

Yep I'm sure it's aged terribly but I have fond memories of F2B and I like to wear the rose-tinted now and then. :)

That's one of only two NGP games I have. Still if you only have a couple of games you can't go far wrong with Metal Slug!

It's a very common problem with the older machines. If you have an 8th series or lower then your laser is going to fail sooner or later or at least stop reading CD based games and PS1 games. The disc read error problem is about as bad as the RROD problem to be honest and the PS2 is far from a rock solid console although the slim is a lot better.

I got some one from boards to do mine but it didn't seem that hard. At the time you needed an action replay to get the files from a usb key onto your memory card and then it was pretty easy from there. However there's newer methods of doing it and a quick google should give you a tutorial on how to do it. You could even ask in the console mods forum, I'm sure they can guide you through the process. It's not that tough to do.
