Garda Recruitment Forum :Good Lord...It's happening...I will meet everyone at stone-henge for the thawing of the recruitment embargo...the two letter drop...it's a sign from padre pio...

PSNI Recruitment Forum: Eh, That is quite strange is one the pass letter and is one the continuation letter?

Both letters identical! Just states a pass and then information on the current freeze with its implications! random indeed

Maybe it was supposed to be the other second letter and they sent you that one by mistake? You just can't get the staff these days like... ;)

Nah I'm only joking with ya ofcourse!! That is wierd...could be though somebody just forgot to but a tick beside your name to say your's had already been sent out, so they just sent you another one along with the blurb about the freeze.

Attended the AC on the 6th July and i got my letter this morning telling me I have passed. Delighted!! How long should I expect to wait to hear from the PSNI regarding my medical and vetting?

Anyway , whats the latest word from Rumour Control ? :D

full time reserve may be kept on for another year and new recruits on hold for 1 more year, saves them money as the FTR are already trained and reaady to work now as opposed to 2 year probabtion noobs!

also heard the new training college is being axed, the cleansing facility will live on to fight another day

    again this is RUMOUR!

Axing the new college is no surprise , am I correct in saying that was to be funded 50/50 by UK and Irish taxpayer ? If so I can tell you the Govt in the Republic wouldn't have a bean to put into it.
Keeping the reserve ? makes sense I guess but given all the promises about getting rid of them and thats that etc it may a tad 'embarassing ' for certain people.

Good job - keep them rumours coming !

:( The plans for the new college sounded off the hook! I would've actually paid to go there if it had been as good as it sounded! Though I guess it was obvious it was always going to be one of the first victims of any cuts...shame though.

The new training college is for all emergency services, not just police. Its not being axed.

For all emergency services ? Very interesting - I didn't know that, thanks.

Well got my vetting forms today after doing the AC on the 24th of June and getting a pass letter dated the 25th of June. These forms look seriously complicated

Check out Garda Recruitment forum - loads of stuff like that there

Just have to say, I took a quick jeff juke at it there, and I mean quick... but I already see what you mean! The rumours are fierce in there!!

Wee question, I think I've read it in here before but I can't find it now, how many pass the AC?

plugin, from becas list about 80%!!Hmm,all the smart cookies must gravitate to this forum.Bear in mind in Becas list that there are a lot of people "waiting to see" before posting their first post and requesting a place on the list. Those that dont pass AC and have never posted before will obviously not put their name forward for the list so we are getting a slightly skewed % here for passers.Only the passers are coming out of the woodwork.I did it too after the IST.
The plethora of strangely unresearched questions coming through, and the delight in getting a pass/vetting /medical and multiple posting is odd.Do these people not read through past threads that are pertinent to their enquiry?
I have a figure in my head from details released a while back of 50-55% pass rate for AC.

Don't get me started on the topic I love to hate - incredible the questions asked despite the answer being on the threads many times over - when I first found this forum I spent 6 weeks reading everything before daring to ask a question. Ach , I suppose it must be the culture of Instant Gratification

Laziness.Your too polite delancy.Ill bet psni has gritted teeth every time a question is asked that has been answered, even on the previous page.

    The worst are the ones answered by reading the P.S.N.I. Website - like '' how do I apply ? '' , '' what is the process ? '' , '' is there a medical ? '' ( yeah had that one ).

Plus I believe any who fail are removed from the list, so we could be pushing 100% if we get word from those who are on it but haven't confirmed either way...100% makes us look good :D

I've got 800 in my head from somewhere but I think I'm getting that from merit scores and not outright Deloitte passes. I just wish they could make these figures readily available for nosey folks like me!

Aah repetitive questions and posts...bless em  Maybe it's a sign of enthusiasm?? Or instant gratification, or laziness! It wouldn't bother me normally but in general the questions that are being asked at the moment are answered only 1 or 2 pages back. It really wouldn't be that hard just to read back, atleast just a little bit...I read through the vast majority of threads before I first posted on here.
We love newbies really though :D

Erm,yes trying to be sensitive here but there are 15 on there who havent passed the AC or havent posted their results.People tend to be very eager to post passes so I am assuming non passes here...so 61 out of 76 passed the AC on the list as of yesterday.Of those that have passed, 29 had received vetting.I am taking a swipe in the dark that around 40 will eventually. That is obviously dependent on the number of RCs on the list.

    Aah repetitive questions and posts...

When can I get into plain clothes? I just passed the IST..

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 874 ✭✭✭cesc77

Before anyone jumps on me over this,I was going by:the percentage of RCs progressing within their own group would be higher than the percentage of non RCs progressing within their own group and so the more RCs that there are in Becas list, the more people will receive vetting forms.

My logic was incorrect as everyone on the list could in fact be potential top 100 applicants in the merit pool so there is no way of knowing how many more of us are going to receive vetting. It could be that no more of us will get the forms or we all could receive them.

Im suffering from overanalysisitis.Hope that is clearer......my head hurts now.Sorry, psni for this waste of ink in the wrong thread.
