My nephew's new name is Jack the Squid.

He's the polar opposite of Paul. He chose to support England for the world cup, they got knocked out. He then decided Argentina were going to carry his support. They got knocked out. He then decided Germany were the team that was going to win the world cup. Knocked out. He then chose Uruguay in tonights match - they lost.

I've been supporting Holland the whole time and he's decided to support them in the final T

Is Paul the Psychic Octopus Italian?

It has been revealed that Paul the Psychic Octopus is actually Italian! “I captured him myself in the sea around Elba.”

The sensational cephalopod has dominated World Cup headlines by making a clean sweep, correctly picking all seven of his predictions.

Paul the Octo-Oracle is based in Oberhausen, Germany, and up until now it was thought he had been born in Weymouth, England.

“I caught him with my own hands,” declared trainer Verena Bartsch in Bild am Sonntag newspaper.

“I captured him myself in the sea around Elba, in April. He was four weeks old and 10cm long.”

The Elba islands are in Italian territory 20km off the coast of Tuscany.

According to Bartsch, Paul was placed in an aquarium in Coburg and then sold to Oberhausen’s Sea Life centre for €179.

Paul’s final prediction is that Spain will beat Holland in tonight’s World Cup decider.
