Do you think the sexes are actually equal?

I am not asking if you think they should be treated equally, I am asking if you think that if you think, in general, are men and women equal? I say in general because it is clear that there are members of either gender which are clearly better or worse than average when certain attributes are compared. It happens to be my opinion that, from my perspective, I think men have the advantage given their (again I stress, everything in general) superior physical capabilities, and I think they are more fun. I am not a misogynist, I get along fine with plenty of the female gender, I just happen to this that their isn't equality between the sexes no matter how much people want to spin it that way.

While people play with statistics to claim the sexes are equal, they are not.
Same with various races.

While both genders may be found on all points in the IQ and skill set bell curve, that doesn't mean that the average IQ/particular skill set is the same.

They can be equal in the eyes of the law but male and females of every species are fairly specialised. The female body needs to be able to produce offspring which means they can be physically very different from males. Males just needs to show off physical prowess and have little use other than providing good DNA in a lot of species.

If a man did the equivalent there would be murder.

Women can campaign for quotas in places like the Dáil
Men can't

Women get priority in custody cases
Men don't

So no, they're not equal.

Nope they're not equal nor should they be. Women are better than men at some things and men are better than women at other things.

Both sexes use their gender to their advantage in different situations. Nothing wrong with it either in my opinion

Generally speaking the sexes are not equal.

We're different.

Men are better at some things.

Women are better at some things.

But of course there are exceptions to the rule.

Men and women can be the same intelligence but on average, men are slightly smarter.
I'm not talking about leaving cert cause that's not intelligence.. I mean stuff like having your change ready when you get on the bus.. Lads do it, women don't. Or understanding technology.. Some women can but most just can't comprehend it.

I'm not sexist, I work in an office that's two thirds women and see it everyday.

They aren't equal women have their own insurance companies, if men did it would be sexist. Women have their own gyms if men did it would be sexist. If a man hits another man after a night out night in the cell max. A woman hits a man after a night out, nothing happens. A man hits a woman after a night out a night in the cell is the least of your worries, at least a year in jail. How is this equal?

And why do they need insurance companies and gyms? They should be in the kitchen making my sammich

TBH, I don't think women try half the time, social stereotypes can become ingrained in people to the point they'd believe they can't do something without even putting the effort in to even try doing it. But the advantage of the human is we've spread our intelligence across the genders. Every thing men do bad women do well and visa versa.

We use our brains differently, our bodies are built differently, the way we communicate is quite different. It's just how it is, regardless of how many people want to think it's not. So no, they're not equal.

That said, they're equal in the sense that these strengths and weaknesses on both sides tend to balance each other out. The strengths of men compensate for the weaknesses of women, and the strengths of women compensate for the weaknesses of men. So yes, they are equal.

It's not confusing at all..

* Equal pay for the same work
* Equal parental rights
* ...

I think many guys are jealous because they feel that women's rights infringe on their own somehow.
Most often this is manifested in "their car insurance is lower".

No, and we never will be. Asking are the sexes equal is like asking are two women equal, or are two men equal? Every one has different life, educational and physical skills.
Its is unfair when a man and woman do the same job where both have the same work experience and education background. Yet the man is paid more. But at the same time women have it better in other ways too like we have lower car insurance, were more trusted certain jobs.
So no where not equal but I think both sexes have been dealt good hands.

That is the point I am making, I don't think they do balance out, I think that the masculine strengths outweight those of the female.

With regard to your point on men "having better fun:

I was at a festival in Poland there last week. It was hilarious to run into a portaloo when my mate was in the process of using it. (This in turn happened to me, not as much fun then)

I somehow don't think this would appeal to my girlfriend.

Point: Fun is in the eye of the beholder.
