I wouldnt imagine so, there is inherently an increase in bruising, loosing teeth etc.

But there is a host of peeps here who have rocked it abroad sporting just the goggles and come back to tell the tail with two front teeth.

I think its very over exagerated to how much of a difference there is between 1j/328fps and say 450-500fps

Performance wise its very minimal, remember its just making the BB travel faster from the barell, so close yeah its going to sting that little bit more.
But most of us at Berget kept with 1joule guns and had no problem putting it up to the going rate of 500fps there.

Dumb quesion?, would an increase in the 1 Jule limit increase the range do you reckon?..and by how much?

It it doesn't, then there's no real reason in it stinging a bit more, for no real tactical advantage.

Well, I guess with it travelling faster from muzzle this should entail in some sort of increase in range, but cant say I noticed anything mind blowing.

    Maybe a couple of feet?

I have a little rule of thumb.

You buy a clone AEG, out of the box its 300fps.

You throw in a good hopup rubber, its still 300fps, but it will be equal to maybe a 380-390 fps clone out of the box

You throw a tightbore barell in there, your clone , still firing at 300fps, is getting the same range as a clone that shoots maybe 400-430fps outa the box.

Obviously those figures are guestimates, but I think its how most of us in Sweden who didnt upgrade worked it, and worked it well.

    guestimate - Great word!

Well Im convinced - 1 Joule it is!

Maybe another thread needed, but what about different rules for bolt action snipers like unlimited lives? (I know it defeats the purpose of stealth but im clutching at straws!)

HellFire play a good game occassionaly where you have to escourt a VIP through an area where snipers ae hiding -advantage is given to snipers by giving them 5 minues to hide, it hsnt really worked, but I think it could be a good game!

Probably because all the snipers were using aegs or at least they were when I played that scenario up there, the noise is a dead giveaway but it was a semi only game too which was great:)

Oakridge often do that with the Valey, and the last time I played there, it was one of the best scenarios I had payed in Airsoft.

It does. Up to a point after which you have diminishing return no matter how much power you put behind the BB. As has been mentioned, there are other ways to get your added range with or without additional power.

Now, a UK 500fps bolt-action (for example) with all the added bits and bobs to enhanced range, etc. would give ferocious performance assuming its been set up correctly and is - more importantly - being used by somebody who knows how to use it correctly.

    the truth s out there

i'm all for maxing our return on 327 but this stands to reason

true but you can't really snipe much around hellfire as not much cover and very enclused

The research has been done. Check out the Airsoft Trajectory Project.

Increasing the velocity gets you a small increase in range, but not as much as you'd hope. There's a graph at the end of the ATP which shows how much.

None of it matters if you don't clean your barrel, use good BBS and use a good hop-up.

I'm not going to make any further comment on this thread. Any increase in the 1J limit in this country is not going to happen for many years, if ever. The community has other priorities.

I was surprised at that...I always assumed you'd get more distance but looks like the difference on a .25g bb at 450fps and a .25bb at 325fps is only about 20-30 feet which is nothing...
Same goes for every other weight...
So obviously as the more experience guys say.." get a better hop up, air seal, barrell etc rather than brute force" is true :)

If you could run 350 or 400 fps I would still tell you to get a better hop, barrel, seal and so on.

As has been stated before , anyone that CAN snipe can do it regardless of whether they have 328 fps or 500 fps.On any site you will never see more than 1 -2 % of players with a sniper rifle , even if that was as high as 5 % , why would we (lucky as we are to have airsoft at all) push to get an impossible law change to suit at most 5 % of the airsoft community ?
I am not saying only 5 % want to snipe , I am saying that this 5 % need the fps increase to compensate for their inability to snipe properly.

oh I know..I already have a CA M24 with PDI hopup, KM tightbore etc and even though it only fires around 290fps it still fires farther than any other AEG I've seen at LAC...
Ordering the Tania Kobia twist barrel for it this week as I've talked to another guy here on boards who said it made a huge difference in his...

Gawd that site gets up my nose, nice information but mixing metric and imperial, and then making rules of thumb using even Imperial measurements.

    AAARRRRGGGGHHHHHHHHH!
