I was given a book by my mother to read through. It used a generic boy growing up, going through puberty and on through until he was a grandad. It had pencil artwork for the guys and gals in the book (clothed and naked) and drawings of the inner workings of each and all that.
It'd be funny to find it now and look over it.

The only other thing I can remember from it is she hada very hairy muff, you'd think the artist would at least imagine her a little bit trimmed down there.

I got two goes of it, one in 5th or 6th class and another in 4th year in school.

For some reason we were split up into male and female groups in the primary school one... no idea why.

Probably so the girls could be told about periods.

We got sex ed when I was in second year, the school brought in a woman who wasn't a teacher for a special seminar. She invited us to submit anonymous questions for her to answer, of course several guys submitted questions about threesomes etc. I don't remember a lot else from it, although by that stage I probably knew most of it anyway - when I was younger I used to read my sister's Sugar and Mizz magazines, which back in the day were a lot more detailed about sex than they are now

.But then again, I wasn't taught in Ireland by a pack of sexually-frustrated nuns.

But did your class have a practical module like mine in the Christian Brothers?

They sent in an elderly Nun for the day to explain it to us. Horrifying experience...

I remember in 4th year some lads were at the back of the religion class joking about masterbating, the elderly woman teacher then said not to joke about such a pleasureable experience as masterbation. She then spent the rest of the class advising us not to masterbate too regularly and that if possible we should ask a girl to masterbate us. It was so cringe worthy and I felt bad for her as she thought she was giving us some educational value from her talk

Ours was done by a nun. 6th class I think.

Message was condoms are bad, they take away from a precious gift that God gave you. That's why you should wait until marriage. Can't remember much else.

After the main talk, we had to go see her in groups of 5 to ask any sensitive questions. We got our spokesperson to ask why some condoms are flavoured. She said 'Well, where do you taste things?' and fixed us with a stare. I think one of the lads said a half-hearted 'Er, eww' to make her stop.

Anyway, it was ****e. The majority of my classmates have since knocked up some slapper & reproduced many times over.

    Hahaha. Silly classmates.

My mum gave me a book when I was about 11 or 12 with "the facts" in it, but by that stage I'd figured most of it out by reading Mizz and Bliss. (I actually wasn't allowed buy Bliss til I was about 13 so I had to hide it whenever I bought it :p)

Had two chunks of it in school, once in sixth class, once in first year. They were okay, if kind of basic. (This is what happens during puberty, this is where babies come from, yada yada yada)

I hear my secondary school did a safe sex workshop thing with the fifth years but I dropped out in fourth year so I never did it.

Father O'Malley gave me my Sex Ed. Until then, I had no idea that priests gave Sex Ed to altar boys, and that they took such a hands-on approach.

Catholic priests are soooo helpful, and I don't know why they have such a bad reputation.

    That's good advice.

    That's good advice.

It is. This is also some advice for those who need explanation as to what we're discussing

I got most of my sex ed from a book called Guideposts For Growing up, which was actually a childrearing manual for parents, so by the time I was in 1st year with the teacher talking about 'front bottoms' I already knew about chromosomes.

My "education" came from a popup book my mother gave me, said "here read this, it'll explain things" turned kinda red and walked away. I was 27 at the time :(

The older lads on the road told us all about it when we were about 10-11. I asked my Mam about it when i went home and she nearly had kittens :)

We also got it in school from the nuns when we were about 12 which was very funny as most of us knew about oral/foreplay at that stage and we kept asking them how to do it....

Had to learn how to on my own in the end :pac:

In total, about 4 hours. Pretty basic stuff like anatomy.
    No condoms mentioned.

I spent some time in my childhood visiting a family farm, so I can't remember learning I just kind of knew. I do remember an elderly uncle refering to a cow's udders as 'tits'. lol

I was a science nerd as a kid, so I learned the rest of the biology from books, and technique from my older sister's Cosmos. ;) ~I knew everything by the age of 8.

We got sex ed in first year, and the 'girl talk' every year until 4th yr, when we were told about STI's. I remember we watched a caroon of a girl masturbating in first year and every teacher was soo embarrased talking about sex, and some lacked knowledge in certain areas.

I'd love to redesign sex-ed in this country and teach it. For now I guess I'll just have to offer privetw tutorials..;)

Got a half hour talk from our religion teacher when we were 15/16. Mostly involved using a biology text book it generally was n't helpful. The one thing thing I remember him saying was that we would all come in a matter of seconds the first time we even tried to have sex.

Amount of unfunny stories/Christian brother references etc etc is just sad.
    Good thread idea ruined.

I never got any . Pope said it was a sin to learn it in school and I was too embarrased to talk to my parents about it. hooray for irrationalism \o/.

Found out everything in little pieces, starting at age 8. As a result I became obsessed with sex and developed a filthy sense of humour which i still keep to this day.

    My 6th class Sex-Ed
Teacher: "God help the girls that ye will have sex with"

That was actually our Sex-Ed in sixth class.
Luckily my science teacher in 1st year cleared things up.

It's all I could come up with on short notice. I'll do better next time. I promise.

I learned everything from porn movies. That's how i know the right time to high five and wink at my friend while we are double teaming some lucky chick.

Seen an advert for that channel4 doc and some kid asked "how many times should you masturbate a day?" I think he's afraid he's not meeting his daily quota.

That channel 4 documentary was absolutely revolting, horrible naked people and horrible fully clothed people. Sex is actually revolting when you think about it, the only reason it isn't considered to be on par with egestion in terms of revulsion is because it is a biological imperative, but if you can think beyond that for one second (and utterly impossible task for almost anyone I have ever met) then you will see that is yucky.

But it is almost as satisfying as taking a massive dump, so i would consider it on a par
