The Tour de France prologue was as awesome as ever today. The top 3 wasn't remotely surprising - Cancellara, Martin, Millar - especially Cancellara in the top spot. What was most interesting though was that first blood in the overall classification battle went to Armstrong. He was 4th in the prologue itself at 22 seconds behind Cancellara, but more importantly, he was 5 seconds ahead of Contador! It's not a huge amount (but you're never going to get much in a ten minute course!), but it'll give him the psychological edge going into the first week. After the more in-depth details of the Landis saga that were released today, it was prettty impressive.

Should be an exciting three weeks with a few nervy stages in Belgium early on. If anyone's interested in taking a look, Stage 3 on Tuesday should be exciting with cobbles sections possibly shaking things up!

Can't see Armstrong having much of a chance, he can't have improved much from last year given his age, and Contador seemed to have a few more gears than him last year. The main threat to Contador is Andy Schleck.

Wasn't Cancellera accused of using a motorised bike a while back? Did anything come of that?

Sean Kelly made a very valid point that Armstrong should actually be a better rider this year than last as he'll have over a year's pro-cycling back under his belt, whereas last year he only had a few months. It really does make a difference, despite Armstrong being almost 39! Of course Contador was a stronger rider than someone only back in cycling a few months. I still think Contador will win this year, but if you give Armstrong any psychological edge early on - which he has - I think he can surprise us all. I don't think he'll win (although it's not impossible) as this Tour is very suited to Contador.. All those mountains, he'll be in heaven. But we'll see. I've seen stranger things than a 38 year old Lance Armstrong winning a Tour de France. If there's a split in the peleton in Stage 3, expect him to be on the right side of things. Nothing gets past him!

He was indeed, though I don't think anything came of it. He just must have his own inner motor.. Actually, they now have some scanner set up to check bikes to see if they have motors! It's essentially like the daily drugs-testing afaik in that it's only random bikes selected, as opposed to the entire field!

A bit annoyed Sligo won since Galway will now be in the qualifiers.

Spain won which was nice.

Glad they won.:) They would have been so dissapointed if they lost it after losing a 5 point margin in the original game. They were lucky today though, that sideline ball by Galway that they got the goal from changed the game. What was he thinking when he did it?!

It was worse, we were nine points ahead in that game!

I have no idea, awful mistake but hey, I won't complain. I'm not sure if McGee's point at the end was even a point but I suppose it made up for the score Galway got before that because it looked wide from where I was!

Oh, I just realised you meant 5 points ahead when the seventy minutes were up in the original game. Sorry!

There was an incident this year involving Galvin, a student and a duster.. It was brushed over though..

And of course the Jacobs of Wexford who were playing today, all related to Gregg Jacob(who used play a few years ago) the porn star

By the looks of the way our gaelic team are going though all he'll have left soon is teaching. He's just not the player he used to be anymore:(.

Be honest: Westmeath suck badly. Louth were good last week but they were definitely a team that was beatable.

I heard somewhere that more than half of the Tyrone football team is unemployed and that a fair amount of the Kilkenny hurling team is...

Some GAA players have cool jobs like Brian Murray(former Limerick goalie) drove vans for DHL! :P and Andrew O'Shaughnessy is in the Army!
Hugh Flavin who used to be on the Limerick team teaches woodwork in my school...all the girls are MAD about him...

Could be that it allows them to work in their own area, whereas someone working in banking for example might have to move up to Dublin.

I think its more for the holidays. They are guaranteed to be off for at least two months during the summer.

A mobile vegetable shop assistant sounds like a great job.

One of our hurlers is our plumber. He fixed our whole heating system about 2 years ago when no one else could, the legend.

We've an army lieutenant, Stephen Molumphy forgot bout him.. Eoin Larkin is in the army too.
And tbf Most the decent hurlers anyway would get a lot of money for different advertisements and shizz..

I'm not denying that we were terrible. I just wish we were better.:( After winning 2 games in 2 years, I think I'll convert to supporting that hurlers, at least they can win something.
