It's worth pointing out that even Djokovic has only won one grand slam title.

Very true! When you're stuck in a tennis era with Federer and Nadal, Grand Slam titles will be very hard-earned. I think Djokovic can win more too (probably the Australian Open again), while I think the French Open is firmly in Nadal's grasp for a few more years, '09's brief blip aside. I'm curious as to how many more Grand Slam titles Federer can win, and when he's going to retire!

What about losing to a French handball? :pac:

Fantasy team part of my brain tonight would like a 3-0 Spain win, David Villa hat-trick.

The rest of me, who dislikes the Spanish team as a whole, and any team including Sergio Biscuits, would love Portugal to knock the fúckers out tonight. :p

Federer has been knocked out of Wimbledon by the Czech player Tomas Berdych

Federer = :) He wins too much anyways! Next for Andy Murray and Nadal to get the chop.
C'mon soderling, do the business :D

I'd like to see someone rather than Nadal win, it would be nice to see some lesser-known players doing well for a change!

Just after flicking on the Murray match, and Tsonga won the first set, so I think I'll watch the rest.

Really, really can't stand Murray, so for once, I'll be cheering for France :p

Murray to win!!! If not, Djokovic to win!!!

Murray to lose please... Djokovic or Berdych to win...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,819 ✭✭✭EuropeanSon

Damn Murray won. Go on Nadal!!

Delighted that Murray won! <3 his stubborn-ness, it's kinda endearing. I always do like the weird ones! :pac:

However, I also love Nadal (my fellow lefty), so that semi shall produce a happy outcome for me either way - though I think I'd be slightly happier if Murray won.

From the other semi-final, it depends on which Berdych shows up. Djokovic is fairly consistent, whereas Berdych can give up when the pressure rises. No evidence of that in today's win over Federer though, so if he can keep that up he could well be in the final!

I'm sickened that Federer lost today. I really like him. I can't see him coming back from this really... I wouldn't say he's lost his touch, he's just not quite as great as he once was.
I'm not a fan of Nadal. So since Fed is out, I'm going for Andy Murray. Hopefully the British hopes won't rest too heavily on his shoulders. If he wins Wimbeldon, I can see him winning a lot more in the next few seasons.

Hate to break it to you but Nadal is right handed.

I suppose he probably had to switch one for balance.

I don't why there is so much hate for Murray. All he does is give it 100% everytime and never backs down. The only thing I hate about him is the idiots that keep on going "come on Murray" during every break in play.

He's a cocky, arrogant little shithead who acts like a spoiled brat on court, constantly arguing with officials and obnoxiously pumping his fist at every single point (not just the crucial ones.)

I would honestly love to see him go through his whole career without ever winning a Grand Slam.* His attitude on the court is a bad example for any aspiring tennis player out there to be seeing. Sportsmanship is a virtue; Andy Murray has none whatsoever.

    /rant

*and I'd also like if that "whole career" ended abruptly through injury/disgrace/alien abduction etc.

I was pretty sure that there was a lad wearing an Offaly GAA jersey in the crowd on centre court during the Federer match and some of the Murray match.

But it'd be soooo much funnier if he was injury free the whole time, but was just never good enough...

True, but as much as I hate to admit it he is actually a damn good player and still pretty young. So it's quite likely he'll win one one day. And even if he never wins a grand slam, he's still gonna make a shitload of money from other competitions.
This is why the sooner he gets abducted by aliens, the better! :p

I hate how on BBC for all Murray's games they spend more time showing his girlfriend and his mother in the crowd instead of showing the actual game.

Who cares his girlfriend is worth looking at.

Even better, he's ambidexterous like me! :P

I meant in terms of tennis though. Although I'm never going to be a grand slam winner like Nadal (or even an anyway competent player!), I do play left handed (although I'd generally be considered a lefty in terms of writing etc anyway!). :)
