    Hi Daisy,

Can you email me on Aoife.Finnerty@ul.ie because there's a few bits and pieces that I need to get from you. Then I can give you a contact to email in SAA.

    Mail sent.

    Hi Aoife

do you know whats the process for viewing your papers?

    Thanks

You can apply to view your scripts through the Department Secretary. You must apply to the relevant Department, which may not be the one in which your course is. The Secretary should be available on the Department website. So for example, if you study Business and French, your course is in the KBS but the French paper was issued by LLCC.

    Hi Aoife,
Im a 4th year (soon to graduate) and i did my co-op and erasmus in 2008. My student transcript lists my co-op semester as "Co-op 1" and Erasmus as "Co-op 2". I got a "P" as a result for both.
My query is whether or not Erasmus exam results affect QCA? I took exams while on erasmus and had to send these exam results back to UL so i presumed that these results would have affected my QCA but i seem to just have received a "P" for the whole lot. Is this right??? Just wondering in case it affects my final degree award,
    cheers:)

    Hi Clio,

To the best of my knowledge grades are returned for Erasmus and converted by your Erasmus co-ordinator to fit the UL QCA system. I would query this with SAA because there may be a reason why yours was QCA neutral. If you tell me your course (either here or by PM), I can tell you the best person to contact.

    Hi Aoife,

On Friday the 9th I got an email that ruined my summer and I wasn't the only one. I do architecture in UL and apparently 7 others got the email as well. You see, this is been going on for nearly 3 weeks when our grades where blocked from being accessed. I'm finished with college but i was being notified that I had college fees to pay even though I didn't. After contacting the Fees Office I was one of the lucky ones to finally have access to my results. I wasn't initially happy with my D1 for my main module but I would gladly take that now over what I'm being offered.

Apparently, along with the other 7 (some of which who got slightly higher than I) we did not fulfill some criteria (12 bullet points that frankly are waffle and the same thing just worded differently) and now we are being given M grades instead (which are essentially holding grades and it is proposed we go back to college for the next six weeks and be re-examined again for a final grade.) This is supposedly an non-repeatable module but yet we are basically repeating it, even though we have passed it. How is this possible?? Can they do this??

We have to meet our lectures on Tuesday to begin the "invitation" the same day I had a Masters interview and now everything is up in the air because even if I am able to delay the interview, late August would surely be to late to be accepted by the college.

I have some comfort in the fact I'm not alone in this but it is ridiculous. Some of my classmates may have to leave their jobs and at such short notice.

Aoife is on leave at the moment. Can you send all the emails you received in relation to this to myself and Viv.

    SUWelfare@ul.ie and SUCSO@ul.ie

    Thanks

    Hey Dee Dee,

Class timetables are usually out around the 3rd week in August. Keep an eye on the usual location from about August 16th onwards.

    Hi there,

I dont know if this is the right place to ask this question but I'll give it a go. I'm starting in september as a mature student, Mental Health Nursing. I've received my mature student office orientation pack and info on the mature orientationi days, and I've received my garda vetting stuff today. But I still haven't received anything about our actual registration days etc. Is this correct and will they be on their way in the next week or two?

    Thanks for your help:)

I think the regestration dates pack comes out the day or 2 after the first round of cao offers
that's what happens for the magority of the students anyway

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 472 ✭✭smilerxxx

    Oh right thanks,

We've already gotten our cao offers in round A jul 7th so I thought we might have gotten them already. Before they had the rush of leaving certs. (i'm just being impatient... too excited I want everything ready)

    Hey Smiler,

For some reason my post didn't properly save the last time. As Mayo lad said, don't panic about not receiving anything yet. It will be a couple of weeks before you get the registration and fee details and the student handbook sent out. If you've any other questions, post away here or drop me an email on Aoife.Finnerty@ul.ie. If, for whatever reason, you haven't received the information by the third week in August, just give me a shout again and I'll see what's happened.

Welcome to UL and good luck with everything,

    Aoife

    Hi,

I'm applying for a grant for a postgrad in UL as a mature independent candidate. I graduated from my undergad in 2008. I have never applied for a grant before. Have you heard anything about the rule that saids you must have a break of at least 3 yearsbefore appllying as an independent mature candidate. Its very confusing. Wondering does this apply to me as it referes to having previousiously been a dependent candidate but I've never applied for a grant. Any help much appreciated.

    Hey MIB,

    Grants and financials are handled by Derek, the Welfare Officer. You can ask him about your query here;

    Hi,

Is there any way of getting solutions to past exam papers ? Repeating an exam and I have no idea if i'm answering the questions right on them. Any help appreciated, thanks.

    Hey,

I'm afraid that there isn't any way of getting solutions unless the lecturers or tutors have provided them. You could try emailing the lecturer in questions and he/she may be able to tell you if you're answering them correctly.

    Hi,

I'm looking to start this course, and have been offered a place in Year 2. Can you tell me what is the difference between the Cert in BS Option 1 and Option 2?

    Thanks,

    Hi Mr. Bleech,

I can't tell you so I'd advise emailing either Ita.Page@ul.ie or Ronan.Carbery@ul.ie, the course co-ordinators.

    Good luck with it.

    Hi Aoife,

I have 3 modules to sit in the repeats. I was sick at Xmas and got I-grades for them. I was just wondering what happens if you fail a repeat exam that you have an i-grade for? I am terrified because I am due to start my co-op the Monday after the repeats. Any info would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

    Hi Lulu,

I'm afraid if you fail one/some of those modules, you will have to do them again next year via link-in or if you fail all of them, you will have to repeat the semester. You won't be able to go on Co-Op until the following year. Sorry I don't have better news for you.

    Hey Sarah,

As per my Facebook page (I get asked this a lot), I'm not sure so you'll have to email Barry.Fitzgerald@ul.ie to find out what the situation is.

He just said they're not open. No reason why.

    Sad face.

    Hi,

Just wondering if you could tell me or point me in the right direction?

I'm heading on Study Abroad this semester. Does the full fee rate still apply?

    Thanks in advance!

    Hi Aoife,

I know the repeat exam grade will be capped at c3 but am just wondering if I will find out the actual grade I achieve rather than just the c3?

    Cheers,

    Daze.

    Hey Daisy,

The C3 will show up on your transcript. You can speak with the lecturer who corrected your paper with regard to the grade you got second time round. Hope this answers the question.

    Thanks for the reply,

I haven't done the exam yet, how will I find out who corrects the paper?
