Haha no I'm kinda glad it was the "good" one. I'd have been devo if I'd gone thru the pain and annoyance of rehab'n the other one only to reinjure it.

Ah fair enough good outlook. I sort of assumed it was your bad one since you had mentioned stuff about subluxing when doing pull ups, plus it just seemed likely to have been the one previously injured. I guess that is a little better that you don't have to go through the same thing with the same shoulder again.

Yeah, the welts were worse where the stitching on my tshirt was.

    Are you playing in studs/blades?
Would it not be worth investing in astroturf/hard surface boots if you are going to play 3 times a week in the summer? They have a load of kind of rubber teeth rather than studs.

I have about 6 different types of boots, but it doesn't seem to make much difference what I wear, my feet still get cut up. I don't like those astroturf shoes, they just don't feel the same

They are just football boots with different soles....but each to their own.

went home for a hurling match last night, junior b league semi in case ye're interested...first start of the season as i hadn't been training much with work earlier on.
Anyway went on a solo run near half time and just as i released the ball got an awful shoulder charge...straight to the ground, next stop A+E...4hrs later they tell me my clavical has come away from my AC joint, a shoulder seperation.

Fair sickened, didn't even get a free and they ended up losing by 4 points!! Have to wait for the fracture clinic on monday to see the whole extent of the injury but it's looking like 6 weeks in a sling and 2-3 months+ recovery time.
GUTTED to say the least, looking forward to rebuilding my upper body though afterwards.
    sympathy anyone?? :(

Had the same injury a few years ago....tis a bollox alrite. Took ages and a few physios before i was happy enough with it to go back playing as well.

maybe you could have your feet assessed and have shoes professionally fitted for you if you haven't done so already.

Vaseline the hell out of your feet before putting on your boots

Well I already wear runners for all the warm-up stuff, but I like to wear my match boots for anything that involves kicking.

I don't think theres anything particulary wrong with my boots or feet- everyone seems to be having the same problem- the ground is hard as rock

I do that already, usually helps out big-time

Anyone watching the tennis on BBC? Theres a match thats been on for over 8 hours, and is 45-45 in the 5th set - its ridiculous!

I'm not sure if we are talking about the same thing.

    I'm talking about these:

Granted I'm fairly **** at football, but they feel alright to me.
And certainly don't give your feet the hammering that you get from blades/studs on hard ground.

I knew that was what you were talking about, but I can definitely notice a difference between wearing them and regular boots - they are a slightly different shape, and just don't feel them same - but that could all just be a mental thing.

Its raining now anyway, so hopefully that will soften the ground a bit :D

Fake low cut converse in dunnes are only €6 (not the boot style ones), wifebeater t shirts were €2.50, and no stupid logos on them.

I went in for a baseball cap, and was surprised to see exactly what I wanted, 100% cotton, fully covered (no mesh at the back), velcro strap for adjusting at the back, and a nice smallish rounded peak, with no logos or trim all one colour, navy, had loads of other colours too. And best of all only €2 :)

Bluegrass version of the old snoop/dre tune.

Since we're all bitching about injuries:

Try a stress fracture of the 5th metatarsal (bone in the foot). Means I can't squat, run, walk properly without pain or for longer than 20 minutes. I've had it since before Christmas and the poxy thing won't heal.

I've beaten the heat by clearing out my garden and putting the weights out there. A nice little breeze passes through and makes it bearable.

    are you not on crutches?

    are you not on crutches?
    +1

If you are continuing to train with the stress fracture and walk around on it, then you can't be surprised that it is taking a long time to heal

    Best Regards,

    M

My doctor just told me to stop doing squats, running or lengthy walking. It's only recently that I've stopped doing pretty much everything.

Pain in the arse. Or foot more like.

    Meh.
Maybe its just the fact that he is an overly agressive megalomaniac.

But he is no Randy Pausch.

Its a bit of a tear jerker.
He must have had some strength of character to put it together and deliver it.

What's it called? I need a new book to read. Might get it tomorrow.

Just finished reading Mad, Bad and Dangerous To Know by Ran Fienes actually, I wasn't all that impressed by it. The stuff he's done is INCREDIBLE, but it just didnt' come across that well in the book I thought.

It's called The Last Lecture as well, only about 200 pages. It's very like the lecture itself basically goes through the process behind the making of it and has tips for time saving etc.
