Wow! Excellent find! I'd imagine those Review copies were sent out to magazines and stuff for their previews and reviews. Never seen them before so they could be rare.

Nice!! look like a load of magazine review copies alright.

What's the story with Driver Psx Pal V.4.11 though? If I were you I'd go through all of them with a fine tooth comb to see if any of are Betas/prototypes.

    Infogrames Disc - BBLIT preview 4/99 ?????

Bugs Bunny Lost in Time, probably.

That's some haul. I'm sure there would be collectors for pre-release disks like those handwritten ones especially, particularly if there is unfinished code on them. Have you tested them to see if they run on unmodified hardware?

What stuff did you get for the Dreamcast?

Indeed, god knows what's on some of those hand written discs.

If they won't run on a non modded machine sure you could always rip them to your pc and try running on a ps1 emulator.

Yeah, that kinda what i taught.Wasn't sure if they were press review copys or maybe the final copy for the developer to review.I'll have to check them out later on tonight. Also found commandos 2 for the Ps2 (Promo only / not for resale) and two demo disc from a playstation mag no.'s 38 & 49

The dreamcast disc's were proper demos, Dream'on volume 5,6,7. Some disc marked Dreamcast Programs ? and Toast 5.2 ??

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 276 ✭✭Dark Savior

I still have a modded Ps I and Ps 2 so fingers crossed they'll work on them. Some of the disc have some scratches on the,I'd say the younger brother was a little rough with them

    and Toast 5.2 ??

I think that is/was Mac cd burning software.

Well the ones to go with first are funnily enough the ones that look like bog standard copies and not mass produced review copies.

If you get something in a batch of review copies that looks like a normal hand written CD-r it has the capability of being something very special.

As I was saying, that Driver Psx Pal V.4.11 sounds like it could be interesting! Generic disc and a version number, nothing about being a review copy.

Hope none of the scratches are too bad. If they are, whip out the oul toothpaste ;)

Heh, oh yeah, the NES games! Great collection of titles there. Shows you how much of a haul the ps1 stuff was, made me totally forget about the rest of the games :pac:

Just picked up an NTSC copy of Tempo for the 32X myself. Needed to test out the NTSC/PAL switch Enternow put on my 32X.

The driver game is a definate Betas/prototype.Game loads up and on the bottom of the screen it says V4.11 (pal). This stays on while you watch any clips. Also its got these x ,y ,and Z variable's that are on the bottom of the screen and change as you drive around. Also your car can't die,no matter how much damage it takes, but if it flips upside down it won't turn over properly.

The Ps1 its self is slightly different to my own one, mine's the one on top.
Mine has the model No. SCPH - 5552
    50Hz 9W

    While this other one is....
    Model no. SCPH - 1002
    50hz 12W

It came with a 3 pronged lead that goes into L(mono), RFU DC OUT and VIDEO OUT all at the one time.I don't know if that's commen or not

Excellent! You quite possibly have had the only prototype find in Ireland, ever :pac:

Back that disc up on your pc before it combusts, quick!

They might know something about it on www.playstationcollecting.com

It's one of the very early PS1's.

The model numbers went from 1000 - 9000 so 1002 indicates possibly a launch model. It's also known as the audiophile as it gives the best sound out of all the PS1's made. Only the audiophile models have the 3 connectors at the back. Nice find! Just make sure the laser works as the some of the early models had dodgy lasers and plastic parts inside the laser assembly that wear out over time.

    Also very interesting about Driver!

Cool, cheers guys;).Atavan-halen,you were spot on about the laser in the Ps1,after about 30 minutes it stopped working.I opened the cd lid and the disc and spinny yoke fell out - doh. That speed freaks disc is another unfinished game. All sorts of clocks and letters going mad in the corner. One or two of the disc's won't load,I'll check the other's out tomorrow. Thanks for all the help and info:)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,183 ✭✭✭✭Atavan-Halen

Sometimes you can get the laser to work by turning the PS1 upside down, but from what I understand it's broken altogether :P

    Nice one!

Something also to note with Alien Soldier. I've been playing it the last few weeks at 60hz. Supposedly it was actually PAL 50hz optimized. So I've gone back to playing it in 50hz.

I want to do some comparisons between PAL 50hz and the default Japanese 60hz for the NTSC Jap version and see if they're the same.

As if it has been PAL optimized if you play it in 60hz it'll actually be playing too fast.

Saying that, I was kicking ass at 60hz. When I went back to 50hz the game seems piss easy in comparison. :pac:

Really? Well I must test that out myself and see.

I havnt played it yet, not in the mood to play games this morning, Just relaxing and watching Hung.

Doing up some gaming inspired T shirts designs and hopefully I can open a shop on spreadshirt or somplace soon enough. I have a zazzle shop already but I only ever put 2 designs up there as I dont really like the site.

If you can get some decent game designs done up on tshirts that aren't your usual generic Mario/Sonic ones I'd buy every one of them!

    I'd love some shooter tshirts.

ah man! , picked up a few PS1 games from a mate but they pale in comparison to that big find, Boxed Battle Area toshinden, F1, MDK with the soundtrack disc and starfighter 3000 , unboxed F1 98 as well , plus a few PS2 games.
Oh and a mate handed me an original GBA when I was out drinking with him last month , great but I cant get over how bad the lack of a backlight was!
