I've just found a handy little carb counter for a mobile phone, for those who are obsessive enough to measure and count.

It's called HelpDiabetes and it's free to download. It runs on my very elderly, low spec phone, so I imagine it would run on almost anything.

It does fat and protein as well as carbs, and keeps a running total. It also has some very strange food in it. Raw whale or human milk, anyone?

If you've got an iPhone, you have access to all sorts of fancy calorie counters. This was the only one I found that would work on my elderly phone.

They're pretty bad, the only good ones are ones that link to a site, like fitday, which is a pain to use as its cost money every time

This is something I've been considering looking into. Do you think there is a market for an app that works in a similar way to 'fitday'? There would have to be a minimal download charge as it would be hugely time extensive to get up and running?

I have a feeling that Fitday already has a downloadable version. Don't know if it runs on a phone. But with more and more smart phones coming out, I expect people will want to be able to log their diet and exercise.

I did find a program that allowed you to log your workouts in the gym.

Yup, I may start some proper market research I guess. I've used fitday myself and downloaded some of the other calories counters.

I like the way fitday gives you the macro breakdowns as %/chart. They all seem quite american-ised though as obviously that's the biggest market...but if a more simplified/quicker and easier to use method could be found?
