Look, I'm just an ordinary member posting up a reminder on this forum that may be of interest to others. That's what the scratch cup sticky is for.

No need to be rude to me.

I wasn't being rude and I don't care if you're invloved in the running of the comp or not. The scratch cup sticky ain't just for people to advertise/flag up their own club's events, it's for discussion about all things scratch cup.

If i think the way Skerries have decided to run their scratch cup this year is crap, then i'll say so. It's only my opinion, but the feeling i got from others when talking about it with others at the Headfort JSC was similar.

    Get yourself a thicker skin.

It's been decided to hold a Senior Scratch in Lucan on the same day as the JSC. The North of Ireland is on that weekend but the feeling amongst our own members who fall into the Senior category is that it will be well supported. There are currently 37 available spaces on the time-sheet if you or someone you know is interested in attending.

Our Vice-Captain's is on the day before so I can safely say the course will be in great condition.

Please see attached for more details.

There will be Junior and Intermediate Scratch in both Athlone and Mount Temple Golf clubs on the 4th of July. Timesheets are now open for both events.

Played Athlone during the open week-you need to be on top of your game to score well around there. If your playing bad it is far from fun. Mount Temple is very open and much easier to score on.

The courses are only 10 minutes away from eachother so if you get in early you could play morning in one and evening in the other. Probably better to play MT in the morning-loosened up then for Athlone!

    Athlone GC 09064 92073

    Mount Temple GC 09064 81841

Has anyone tried to contact the handicap secretary in Headfort about the SS problem?

Have you? The Headfort office simply said that the cards would be returned to all clubs by Thursday. I took that to mean that our own individual handicap secs would be the ones who would sort it out.

Senior. Are there many entered in for the Senior do you know?

Well, seeing as though we only confirmed the decision 2 hours ago I would say there are the sum total of 2 in for the senior, you and Pinkdoubleeagle. :D

Only jesting, there were 27 places vacant this morning so I'm hoping the vast majority of those will be filled by Senior players. There will 10-15 members signing up.

Am sure you will get all the Lucan low-guys in so that will make it competitive!!!!!!!:)

golfnet has css @ 71 & my handicap has been updated by my club at that css.

Is that it then? So how come Headfort are saying its 72?

    Yeah, mine is the same.

It was 72. I'd suggest having a word with the handicap secretary at your own club. That's what i plan to do.

The Headfort website shows that the CSS for the second round (Old Course) on Saturday was 72. It's gone through my Golfnet as 71. Can anyone else confirm if theirs is the same?

I rang Headfort and they said that the CSS was definitely 72.

Will this automatically correct itself once the cards are sent to the clubs or is it something that should be flagged with handicap sec?

Isn't there a Standard Scratch calculated for HOME and AWAY players. It may be that 71 is CSS for AWAY players but office staff in Headfort may not be aware of it. Having experience in the area can't see how a system can send CSS 71 to Golfnet if it was 72. Maybe if there is a Headfort member on this forum they could confirm what CSS is on their Golfnet account.

Well I hope the weather is better than last year, about 4 degrees and pissing rain. I walked off the first hole. Was eventually rerun as an 18 holer.

    Fantastic golf course.

Draw for Baltray Junior Scratch has been made. Tee times can be confirmed by ringing the club.

athlone is very tough alright, played it stableford but wouldn't play a scratch competition there.

I like Mount Temple as well (well apart from the 16th!!) Always score well there.

Anyone managed to get a resolution to the Headfort problem?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,361 ✭✭✭f22

Has to manually updated by your home secretary as far as I know.

I have a similar issue, just got .2 from nowhere on the same day as a cut, nobody can find a reasonable explanation.

Isn't there an issue with low single figures whereby only the GUI can make such alterations though?

This is true of General Paly adjustments. The Handicap secretary must seek approval from the GUI in advance of doing such adjustmens.
However, the handicap secretary could by pass this by entering the adjustments as 'away scores' rather than general play adjustment. (which in effect they are)

f22, Thanks again for this info. Just home after the most ejoyable 84 of my golfing career:D. Baltray is probably the best course I have ever played.
Fantasic visually. Undulating 'tight' fairways, Pot bunkers dotted everywhere and Fast true greens. Only a light breeze and sun shone.
My mate travelling with me spent the 3 hour journey home raving about the course.
Only one criticism 'The holes were 2 small'
If you get wind of the results let me know please.

Played utter ****e myself but still enjoyed the day. Fantastic course in fantastic condition.

Chap with me from Baltray shot 76, best I heard of the early scores.

Anyone play Mullingar last week? Just wondering what people thought. I wasnt very impressed with either the course or the running of the event. Cant see myself going back next year. (incidentally I had a terrible score)

Phoned up for a time, they took payment twice from my account and then omitted me from the time sheet. Nice work Baltray!
