Phoned up for a time, they took payment twice from my account and then omitted me from the time sheet. Nice work Baltray!

Between the Headfort CSS debacle and the Baltray double payment your not having much luck with recent Junior Scratches :(
Did you get to play at all?

Played utter ****e myself but still enjoyed the day. Fantastic course in fantastic condition.

Chap with me from Baltray shot 76, best I heard of the early scores.

74 won yesterday, apparently the winner finished birdie, eagle. Had an 86 myself but really enjoyed the day, especially playing off the very back tees. Baltray is a course I would love to play every week

Anyone play Mullingar last week? Just wondering what people thought. I wasnt very impressed with either the course or the running of the event. Cant see myself going back next year. (incidentally I had a terrible score)

Played it alright. Way too tight for my driving... Thought it run smoothly though.

Powerscourt, South County and Slade Valley coming up in the junior category. I'd say SV will be a good field given the JC qualifying was there recently. Powerscourt is a top golfer event so that should be good.

Woodbrook 36 is the week after, love that one, but going to Oxegen that weeked.

That's the same day as Lucan too. That's 36 also.

Think there is scratch cup for Junior/Inter this weekend in East Cork, anybody got details?

Folks - there are 13 spots left on the time sheet for the joint Senior & Junior SC's in Lucan on July 11th.

If you know anyone (in the Senior category particularly as we are trying to increase playing numbers here) who is looking for 36 holes of golf on what are pristine greens at the moment please ask them to check out our website.

    Many thanks.

Edit: Just remembered I won't be around that day!! Would loved to have played Lucan!

Hi MiniGolf - our website just says "Junior Scratch Cup" but there will be a Senior Scratch held on the same day. Just click on the Junior Scratch Cup button and add your name.

Our Senior is for 3 h'cappers and lower.

Kilkenny is having a Junior Scratch on July 11th also.
    36 holes stroke.
    Handicaps 4-9
    €28 including lunch
1st to 4th gross prizes and 1st to 4th nett prizes also as well as best gross and nett for each 18.
Will be just back from holidays then so hopefully will give it a rattle.

DOH! Keep mixing those up!! Senior always reminds me of old, decrepid and not that good....... just like I feel some days....;) :D - (No offence intended to any seniors!!)

Why the hell are they are so many scheduled for the 11th, theres 2-3 I would like to play in but cant...

    Lucan 36 holes
    Kilkenny 36 holes
    Woodbrook 36 holes
Malahide 18 holes but a top golfer event
Co. Meath 18 holes but only €15 to play

Surely a bit of common sense needs to be used by either the GUI or the clubs. The clubs I know put a great effort in to free up there course for the day so would love to see the GUI encourage clubs to space out the events if possible

Carlow and Kilkenny were both on the same day last year and at least they have kept them apart this year (Carlow is on the 4th July).

    Ì'll take that one ;).

I think at this stage to cancel because of a lack of numbers would be bad form. I'm organising the event so you can take it from me we won't be cancelling it. Just hope we don't have a field of 10. Thanks for your support Huntelaar.

Sorry, I meant to say Madds rather than Licksy! My bad.

I was originally down for the junior scratch but got down to 3 recently so will be playing in the senior now. Glad to hear I can still play :D

Need to make a decision next Sunday for the junior scratch comps - Dundalk and Carlow on the he same day. Was half thinking of going to Slade Valley but it's only 18 and mixed in with an Intermediate comp.

I have never played Dundalk, and played Carlow years ago. Think they're both 36 holes.

Can someone give me a steer which might be a better day?

Carlow, fantastic golf course and will be well supported

Better off in Dundalk... Carlow is a pitch and putt course. Athlone and Mount Temple are having Junior and Inter on Sunday as well lots of room on their timesheets (18 holes). Junior and Inter in Athenry Sunday also but sheet is nearly full for that.

Carlow is widely regarded as one of the finest parklands in the country, and measures over 6600 yards over large changes in elevation.

Laughable that you even mention Athlone and Mount temple in the same sentence!

It's not really laughable seeing as I wasn't comparing them.

The only reason Carlow has any sort of following is the Senior scratch thats held there each year. I don't rate the course and a lot of people I know who played there don't rate it either.

    Go fish somewhere else.

The point still stands. How are you calling a 6,600 yard long course a pitch and putt course? And if it was such a poxy track, why does it have such a strongly supported Senior tournament?

Or were you just calling it short as a way of impressing strangers on the internet, trying to imply that you're a massive hitter?

Just incase we missed your username.

Wooo there boys, bit feisty for a Monday afternoon. 6,600 doesn't really mean anything does it? No.. it's how the course plays. And it plays a lot shorter but has small "poxy" greens. Athlone, Galway, Mullingar all have well supported Senior Cups-doesn't mean they are good courses.

You seem like you've made up your mind where your going so have a good day down there.

As for my name-it's a reference to a famous golfer from long ago. You may have heard of him...

Are you trying to say it's an easy golf course off the championship stakes?

What's your best score around there?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,798 ✭✭✭Mister Sifter

Must be difficult playing with such a large chip on your shoulder i'd imagine.

Good contribution there... why don't you sit out the next play, champ.

Look boys, off the back sticks it still a pitch and putt course because of the tiny greens. And yes, it is easy.

Look at Glasson G&C club. 6600 off the white tees-7200 off the back. Now there is a test of golf.

Even Coltart would have a good score round Carlow.

Hmm its dundalk for me anyways. Playing there for years and its well organised. The greens are excellant at the minute. Ive played a few courses so far this year and Dundalk easily has the best surfaces on the greens.

    thats my opinion anyway
