Evolution would've naturally deselected fat people if it was truly bad.
In fact, the potato famine may naturally selected fat people to survive because they had either fat reserves or a slower metabolism.

If everyone in the world were as thin as people expect them to be, then a short food shortage of say 10 days would wipe out most of the population.

There is a reason why people come in all shapes and sizes.
The reason is that nature has wiped out all those who are standardised.

If people want to show off their bodies, no matter what size they are, then they probably have more self confidence/lack of self consciousness than you have.

There's plenty of people who gamble without serious problem, there's plenty of people who eat lots without problem.
The OP is targeting those with problems.

Your ignorance of the subject pretty much invalidates everything you say.
There can be any number of factors, such as depression, anxiety, environmental factors like being trained by parents what foods to eat, portion control, habit, working in an office, etc, etc.

I have no right to lecture people on how to quit smoking as I've never smoked before, please tell us your qualifications to lecture on this subject?
