    A really small nuclear bomb is quick, easy and surprisingly cheap in these recessionary times.

    It will probably heat quicker in Provence than in any of the provinces of Ireland.

    Leaving cert physics. Assuming it's going from 10C to 25C and a perfecly efficient heater, €122

    Homework?

    Q= m*c*Temp difference

    Q = 50000*4.12*(25-5)
    Q = 4,120,000 W

    I thought c = 4180 for water. Your result should be in joules.

    If I started to get Yo're Ma all heated up, I'm sure she'd fill the pool with over 50,000 litres of 'water', which should take no less than 10 minutes?

    And I'll do it for free ;)

    :pac:

    If you can afford a 50,000 litre pool and then worry about the cost of heating it then you couldn't afford the pool in the first place.

    Think it was in reference to the deaths of 96 Liverpool fans who died at Hillsborough,and The Sun newspaper alleged that other Liverpool fans pickpocketed the dead and urinated on them

    And FWIW it wasnt funny and was in very bad taste!

    Water expands when heated so the specific heat capacity per Litre will vary

    if you want 50,000 litres at 25c then you can use a heat capacity of 4.1813 Kj / L

    4,181,300 Kj / 3,600 seconds/hr = 1,161.47 Kwhr

    Electricity are priced per unit so in the order of €200 but could nearer €100 if you are on the storage heater tariff.
    https://www.esb.ie/esbcustomersupply/residential/your_account/urban_24hr_tariff.jsp
    Gas is also priced per unit too. But unless you have a condensing boiler there will be a fair bit of waste heat.

    Heat losses have not been taken into account.
    It is left as an exercise to the reader to calculate the initial volume of water needed.
