George Foreman type grill vs healthy fats

    Hi,

I've just moved into a new house recently and i've noticed that one my new housemates pretty much uses the george foreman exclusively for cooking all of her meals! She is a very healthy individual, doesn't eat much processed foods and does a lot of physical activity such as tag rugby and swimming.

Yesterday I asked her about the grill removing all of the healthy fats from her food and she didn't know what to think, she was actually quite amazed at the thought that she could be losing a large amount of the goodness thats in the large amount of fish she buys! I'm just wondering would it be more beneficial for someone to keep all of the fat (sat and unsat) in something like fish or red meat rather then grilling it on one of those fat removing grills, surely keeping everything would be better for overall health and recovery?

    Thanks

Oh, this is a swings and roundabouts question.

I'm in favour of keeping the natural fats in a food, but if by using the GF grill, she eats more fresh food, then it's hard to say.

What about suggesting a good non-stick pan as an alternative? One with a lid should be just as fast as the grill, and you can do your veggies at the same time.

as eileen said i use both....the grill for when im in a rush...the pan for when ive got some time to play with... i find you can make a nicer job of cooking stuff on the pan though....mmm olive oil chopped pepper...dam im getting hungry now

I sometimes put GF type grills up on a support so they are not tilted. e.g. you put the lower legs up on a wooden chopping board so now it is level and the fat does not run off as much.
