Sorry if it was asked. Allot of pages have passed.

That's a good point. If this is the case it's pretty controversial as it's implying being in such a condition is a punishment for past sins.

Said to all my mates that it was purgatory from the first season. Super crap ending. Like what was the light? What was the bloody point on being on the island too? Bah!

my reading of it is that the "flash sideways" timeline is some sort of purgatory that was created by the losties in order for them to meet again after they all die before they pass on for good. or something. as christian says, there is no "now and here", so time is irrelevant or whatever. it seems this could any period of time into the future, and not just after jack dies. hugo says to ben he was a great no.2- i got from that that they probably spent a great number of years on the island protecting it together. i thought jacks death was quite moving and handled well.

ok, the last season was pretty poor- even though the finale was better than i expected- the final season of what will always be considered one of the best shows ever was a huge let down.

im just sad that such a great show (albeit with declining quality since season 3) is over for good

R.I.P Lost- when you were great, you were really great

And they all lived happily ever after.

    The End :)

Well watched it earlier and was a bit worried that it was all a dying mans vision, but just watched the last 10 minutes on RTE 2 and get it now how everything happened on the Island and the flash forward was a type of Purgatory for them to all meet up again and remember their lives, I started bawling watching the last 10 minutes again as it all made sense, as with most Losties on the various re-unions that took place particularly Charlie and Claire, Sun & Jin , Syiid & Shannon and Saywer & Juliette and also liked Hurley when Charlie opens the door and Hurley can't stop grinning. Overall I'm happy with the ending and give it a 10 out of 10 for doing what Lost does best !

erm so the things on the island didn't happen it was the flashbacks that were important?

Aw ****, can't believe it's over! I was dying for the ending, I got pissed off in between with the series, but never missed an episode, kept watching....

Loved the ending, and the way everything was brought together! Perhaps a little corny in some ways ( It HAD to be Jack, he was so obvious it wasn't obvious ) - but perfect!

Now I'm going off to cry into a cold glass of beer...:(

That is a bit of a stretch but I could see how some may take it that way.

I'm amazed so many are confused by the ending

    I don't think so.

The "Purgatory" as we are calling it was created by all the people for whom the island was of ultimate importance. Lockes dad is not really there, he's just filler for Lockes "Purgatory".

EDIT: Jack doesn't even have a son!!!!

my mate reckons the imagery of the plane wreckage at the end is actually of the ajira flight- thoughts?

I think ur mate is wrong! The imagery is of the original plane. The plane left hydra island flew over "The" island, which is no more that a few miles long so in order for Ajira flight to have landed on a beach it wud of had to literaly falling out of the sky. Also why wud the plane crash?

That's great you were six seasons ahead of the rest of the world so, because the 'purgatory' world was only in it this season.

Well, they should tell you that you were wrong. It was not purgatory. Purgatory only came into it in the last season as a mechanism for closing the character arcs and bringing a happy ending of sorts.

you said to all your mates that the flash sideways from 5 seasons into the future, that were a shock when we started seeing them, were purgatory.

    Well done you. Genius.

Possibly, but that doesn't really add up. His Dad being healthy would have made more sense. i.e. All Locke ever wanted was to get along with his dad.
He did in his Purgatory life, but obviously then the accident happened.

Not sure it needs to be looked into that much really.

I wish they had done more with this aspect of the storyline. Have the kid disappear or something freaky. He was a bit of a waste of time.

Just after watching, I still have to read through this thread...maybe it's been mentioned already but in case it hasn't, can someone please tell me 'what the fcuk is Desmond's Penny doing there?' She wasn't on the b*stard plane..and I passionately hate her in Flash Forward...her and her big silly square face:mad:.
What about Charles Widmore and them soldiers, what about the others???? What about Walt and Michael. I'm going to cry I'm so disappointed. What a b*staring cop out of a fcukin' ending:mad:. I want a crying smiley to express my feelings.:(:(:(

Apologies for asking questions that have been answered, I didn't read far enough in the thread.

He was only there to suit John Locke. He wasn't 'really' there.

Locke had to forgive himself for what happened to his dad, in order to have his paralysis fixed, which led to him letting go of that stage of the after life. Maybe that is the explanation. Maybe Locke's dad was the anchor keeping Locke from moving on.

yes but the writers said they had it all planned out and said it wasn't about purgatory

Missing the point Mr. Nice Guy. Yes, he was there, but he only existed to fulfil John Lockes "Purgatory" life. Helen too it seems.
He wasn't there in the sense of waiting to move on etc.

Again, Jacks son does not exist, never did, never will.

It's a bit confusing, and naturally doesn't really make any sense. What other worldly / purgatory / heaven stories ever do.

Im guessign thats Desmonds purpose was to enter the light, which Im assuming is raw electromagnitism??? and he is immune to that, so he could pull out a large rock that puts it out, and then Jack the new Jacob can finally kill 'man in black'(who still remains a mystery), and then go back and put the rock back in place to get the light going again before he dies???

Still doesnt make sense, why isnt Frank, Miles, Richard, Walt, Michael in the church, are they still in purgatory?
