Back is ridiculously stiff after wakeboarding - what muscles & how to strengthen?

    I was going to put this in extreme sports forum, but figured the sport is less important, and the fitness of my back muscles is what im interested in, so gonna try here!


    Basically, due to the amazing weather we had at the weekend, we spent a lot of it on the water wakeboarding.
    I'm kind of stiff all over as would be expected, but one particular area in my back is unproportionately stiff. To the extent that it took me ~10 mins to put on socks and boxers this morning, and if im sitting still in work for too long today, it's unbelievably difficult to move then.

    I ride left foot forward, so I can feel the pressures of wakeboarding centralising through my body and onto legs and back, but really this is just ridiculous how one single patch on my back is so stiff!

    I've attached a picture to try and show where the problem is - any advice for how to stretch, or more importantly strengthen, would be much appreciated!

    Not being an ass, but more wakeboarding will build the muscles you need for wakeboarding (really not being an ass). I have found that deadlifting hits the area you have highlighted too.

    In general I'd suggest you get some carbs and protein in after a hard session too and warm down properly. This will help with recovery.

    If it took you 10 minutes to put on socks and boxers this morning you waaaaay over did it.

    Would working on core strenght hit the muscles i've highlighted in that picture?
    I'm much better today, but yesterday was unbelievable. If there were ribs on my back i'd swear i'd had a broken one!
