The thread was locked to avoid confusion as to where the beers were to be held.

I don't mean to go on some aggressive crusade here but I'm not sure if I understand you completely. This is your closing post:

I'm gonna close this as there may be some confusion about this beers and the next After Hours beers

As you can see from Biko's sig there is a discussion on a location and date for this "West Boards beers" already

There will be a thread opened regarding the next After Hours beers soon

The thread title clearly states that it was to be an "After Hours Beers," implying that it was supposed to be the next After Hours beers, not a "West Boards Beers." I think you were the one confusing it with the Galway City beers tbh, especially when you said this (bold und underlining mine):

Indicating, surely, that you thought the OP was talking about the already-being-planned Beers in Galway, not a totally new Beers for After Hours.
The OP was contacted to explain the lock

That's fine but he didn't have sole ownership of the thread.

+1 for Halo. And maybe Massimos as a pub to start off in?

You might have seen it, but there's a boards beers in Massimos on Friday if you're interested.
    I'd say it'll be a good night.

The OP's post implied that this was a Galway beers and that was that and that's how myself and others read it. That why I thought he was referring to the up coming Galway beers where the venue was not yet decided

It simply named 2 pubs in Galway and asked for date suggestions hence the confusion of myself and others asking why the location was not discussed with anyone if this was to be an After hours beers not just a Galway beers

As I stated in my closing post in that thread there would be another After hours beers thread coming soon so everyone could have an input into the location rather than everyone beginning with the assumption that the location had been decided

Maybe it's best to take it to PM tbh., the thread is for organsing a location/place for the AH beers this time around, be it Galway, Dublin, Kilkenny..

    Dublin for me !

I have only ever been once and was dragged to Break for the Border  after 1 beer, but the Pygmalion (Dublin) seemed very nice.

@Fago, I assume you mean Fibbers in Galway? :p

    I hear it's da bomb!

As a Dubliner I wouldn't mind travelling if there was a good few people going from Dublin. Galway is always a good night. Don't know how realistic that is though.

There should be a Fibbers in Baghdad. Their best selling drink would be the Allahu Akbacardi :P

Can it not be somewhere a little more central? Just once?

Like, come on. It's been in Dublin for the last.. oh god, I don't even know how many. There's other parts of Ireland, too, and plenty of people from the rest of the country!

Why not have a beers in the middle of the country so everyone can travel a relatively equal distance and therefore probably gain more members, instead of everyone just catering to the Dublin egocentrism and leaving out a hell of a lot of people?

But I suppose that'd be too radical an idea..

Nowhere has been decided yet-that's the whole point of this thread. To suggest places.
And so far Dublin, Galway, the Aran Islands, Donegal, Kilkenny have been suggested.

It's all about the votes really. If more people vote for Dublin, that's where it'll be held. If more people vote for <insert county here> then happy days, AH beers there ! It's nothing to do with Dublin egocentrism at all.

Can it be a Saturday night? Easier to make for non Dub Boardsie's.

I'd be willing to go somewhere outside dublin, as long as there's plenty of notice so i could book somewhere to stay. We could all get the train down...imagine it, a train full of boardsies?

    Ya, i'm out.

No it's not a radical idea, but, do you think there would be much of a turn out if we located in the middle of the Island? Thing is, most people are living in Dublin, hence most votes will be for that region. If you move the location against the voters will, you won't end up with much of an attendance.

Instead of having everyone traveling, why not just the minority travel? Some of us don't have far to go, so we are lucky that way. But I cannot see the majority change to suit the minority. You know?

Anywhere in Dublin prior to the 10th of June and I'd be game!

    Woolshed works for me too.
