This thread will be used to select a date for the Next After Hours Beers

    Hi guys,

After being asked for the last while to organise another beers I’m setting up this thread for date and location suggestions for the next one.

This thread is for Date/Locations suggestions ONLY

Any off topic or random chat posts will be deleted

Another thing suggested was to do something earlier in the day to,
Perhaps see some sort of sporting event, concert or festival etc. This would accommodate any non-drinkers or anybody who wanted to make a full day of it.

Any suggestions for the above are also welcome

Any time bar the June bank hol weekend please! Not too bothered about location. Ron Blacks was good for prices and atmosphere, but we'd want to book the back section instead of just tables. Karma's back open too apparently?

There will be a poll added at a later date when there is enough suggestions for a venue and a date.

    Good idea but:
It'll probably be a nightmare trying to get something that would suit everybody.
Unless it's a free event, it'd significantly increase the cost, day out and beers after.

    Yay.

I vote for The Palace after seeing this thread.
How about the June bank holiday weekend?

The 4euro pints in Ron Blacks were a nice surprize too.

I'm not sure if that thread was a specific AH beers, it appeared to be more of a Galway Beers event.

No, it was an After Hours event, I just picked galway as the location. Not really sure now why it was locked since this very similar thread has been started?

As Pyro has said it appeared to be more of a Galway Beers event.

So are you then suggesting Galway as the location for this event?

You do know there's a beers organised in Galway this weekend?

    The Woolshed

Actually, the Woolshed is a good idea.

Big place and Cineworld is next door so maybe an earlier film could be arranged?

    Great food there too.

    Yes I am suggesting Galway.

Is there not a beer night organised in the Dublin City board for sometime in June. Does that mean that Dublin cannot be picked as a location for AH beers??

Woolshed is a grand spot. Decent finger food too if that was to be arranged.
    I'm easy to be honest.

    This isn't a chat-it's an idea,before it gets deleted!!
I see they have Wii on the big screen-but it's on a Monday night.

I'd be up for something like that,it's cheap, and you can have a good laugh, and it's something to do other than drinking.

EDIT: Obvioulsy not on a Monday night though..

Why didn't you just post and let him know that rather than lock the thread? It implied to me that even the mods think After Hours beers can't be held in Galway.

I'm guessing that I may be scolded for posting off-topic so I must ask now, where is it appropriate to discuss the locking of the other thread?

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 14,321 CMod ✭✭✭✭The Master

The thread was locked to avoid confusion as to where the beers were to be held.

It's been stated several times now, NO location is decided yet but still there's complaints about the location?

The OP was contacted to explain the lock

I'm gonna close this as there may be some confusion about this beers and the next After Hours beers

As you can see from Biko's sig there is a discussion on a location and date for this "West Boards beers" already

There will be a thread opened regarding the next After Hours beers soon

The thread title clearly states that it was to be an "After Hours Beers," implying that it was supposed to be the next After Hours beers, not a "West Boards Beers." I think you were the one confusing it with the Galway City beers tbh, especially when you said this (bold und underlining mine):
As you can see from Biko's sig there is a discussion on a location and date for this "West Boards beers" already

Indicating, surely, that you thought the OP was talking about the already-being-planned Beers in Galway, not a totally new Beers for After Hours.
The OP was contacted to explain the lock

That's fine but he didn't have sole ownership of the thread.

The 5th June, 18th or 19th of june are all good for me if it's in Dublin!

You might have seen it, but there's a boards beers in Massimos on Friday if you're interested.
    I'd say it'll be a good night.

The OP's post implied that this was a Galway beers and that was that and that's how myself and others read it. That why I thought he was referring to the up coming Galway beers where the venue was not yet decided

It simply named 2 pubs in Galway and asked for date suggestions hence the confusion of myself and others asking why the location was not discussed with anyone if this was to be an After hours beers not just a Galway beers

As I stated in my closing post in that thread there would be another After hours beers thread coming soon so everyone could have an input into the location rather than everyone beginning with the assumption that the location had been decided

Maybe it's best to take it to PM tbh., the thread is for organsing a location/place for the AH beers this time around, be it Galway, Dublin, Kilkenny..

    Dublin for me !

    I hear it's da bomb!

As a Dubliner I wouldn't mind travelling if there was a good few people going from Dublin. Galway is always a good night. Don't know how realistic that is though.
