...why is it that when black guys try to flirt with you it just gets creepy? I was at the park feeding the pigeons, as I do, and this guy sat near enough to me, talking over to me for ages. I couldn't here what he was saying, which I kept saying. He asked what my name was, what age I was, was I from Limerick. Then with a bit more of not being able to here him, and telling him this, I ignored him.

So he came over to me. 'do you have a boyfriend?' Fúcks sake! I said ya. Then he said do you have a boyfriend or are you just afraid of me? I said ya I do. 'Oh I like you anyway' Then I texted someone to ring me. In the meantime he asked could he have my email address, I said no. He asked why, i said because I don't give strangers my personal details. 'But that's not your personal details'

Finally I got a phone call. He didn't move, or go away at all, so eventually I just walked away.

This has happened a bit. I don't have anything against black people, but for some reason any black guys that come on to me are really creepy! Be normal and there's a chance I might talk to you.

Is it foreigners more than black guys? I sometimes find foreign guys have a totally different approach to women than Irish guys that can be perceived as creepy. A black Irish guy would presumably be totally different. So I imagine it's a culture thing rather than a race thing, but I've definitely experienced it too.

Could it be just the setting in which he came all over you?

If he did it in a night club would it be quite as creepy?

I think they call that Xzenophobia OP? Doesn't make you a racist though, well not in the conventional sense.

    Different cultures and what not.

Don't forget, you can be black and be Irish too, ;)

It's probably how they flirt back at home. I assume now since you couldn't understand him he had a foreign accent?
Aren't Italians and Spanish guys supposed to be very forward too?

He wasn't Irish, but if an Irish guy came over doing the same thing, I would be as freaked out, but it only ever is black guys.

Well if in a nightclub, ya I notice Indian lookin guys lookin at you quite creepily, but you get lots of lads doin that in a club i suppose anyway. Haven't been in one in a while so at least that was the way it was. Although now that I think about it, when i was on the way out to the park, some indian guys in the hall were lookin at me a bit much too.

I just sound really paranoid :(

I bet if he was drop dead gorgeous you wouldn't have found his behaviour 'creepy'.

Can't stand the way dudes from India stare at you.
Only ever experienced in New Zealand and they just look at you like they are mentally raping you in their brains.

Freaks me out. As a result I don't like them.

No I couldn't hear what he was saying, because beside the park, there's a lot of traffic. but ya he did have a foreign accent. same as a south african guy i used to know. I've been in both Italy and Spain and haven't experienced that, but maybe.

I remember once being on the Luas and this 70 year old Polish man sat beside me (I'd helped him get a ticket on the machine so apparently I was potential wife material or something  ) and he asked if I was married, when I said yes, he didn't believe me (cheeky so and so :D) so I showed him my wedding ring and he argued that I couldn't be married cause the ring was on the wrong hand...at that point I put me earphones in

I've had pretty much the same conversation as the OP at a bus stop once. They guy was handsome enough, well dressed, and had a complete inability to recognise body language that said 'stop talking to me and go away'.

Although I've been interrogated about my name, where I come from, my phone number by Irish guys on the bus too, but they're usually just too drunk to know when to shut up.

They wear the ring on the other hand in some countries I believe.

It is a culture thing not a race thing and I'm sure the OP appreciates that. I do come across this from time to time. I have a bit of a running joke with my sister that she tends to attract these types like one guy who sat down beside her in a library in town and just started winking incessantly and air kissing, sleeeeaze.

You didnt realise he was part of an African State lottery, and only wanted your email address so you could forward bank details, thus claiming your winnings?
