I mailed them with my problems and they asked me to download a linux distro and take scrennshots of the speed. I hardly able to load pages during the evening so this is going to be painful.

I was having random ping spikes all over last night with packet loss and google searches were bringing me to google.nl with accessability mode enabled as I had an onscreen keyboard.

All I know is that ain't right :P

I've had about enough of their ****ty service, I signed an 18 month contract about 2 months back though. Is there any chance of me getting rid of them or am I screwed?

Can anyone confirm though that you can't have access to all your settings on this Motorola router/hub such as the NAT as you would with others on DSL lines? Heard this mentioned.

Correct you get access to NO settings other than Wi-Fi on/off, SSID and Wi-Fi channel.

    Here is the review:

Conclusion: OK for casual home use, but the lack of access to any of the settings (other than Wi-Fi on/off, Wi-Fi SSID and channel) makes it useless for business or non-trivial use.

No real idea of long term performance yet. I'm in Dublin 7 and get a strong signal. Initial impressions are good, but the ping times are towards the 100ms mark.

We have a fax machine here in the house that is used for business, which needs a phone line. We made sure before ordering the wimax that it would allow us to use the fax which they told us it would, just run a phone line from the router to the fax.
But of course we've had problems with it since, it works intermittently and is just not reliable enough, that together with the crap speeds was more than enough to cancel. We contacted them numerous times and gave them every opportunity to sort it, the best advice they could offer was to buy a new fax machine.
We're refusing to pay any cancellation fee for a service that didn't do as we were told it would.

VOIP isn't suitable for fax without a specific voice codec so unless they're using the T.30 protocol for their VOIP network then you were lied to.

18 month contract? How the hell did they manage to get you into that? I'd say you may have to pay the 100 euro cancellation fee.

Look back at the posts reagarding this product. Don't touch it with a barge Pole. If they don't stop false advertising their going to do business for around a year until everyone who has it decides not to renew the contract.

I sent Imagine a mail telling them about the issues I was having at peak times. They have sent me back the following below. Am I obliged to troubleshoot the issue for them in this way or should I tell them to do it themselves as it's a problem with their service. I have tried doing this at 6 and 7 in the evening but the speeds have been painfully slow that I can barely avvess the site. If they are providing a dial up service at peak times is this a case to cancel without termination?

In order to check your connection we would like you to do some tests and send the results back to us. Here are the instructions we need you to follow.

I would in my ****e mate, sure near impossible to download anything.

Cancel due to technical fault, the product is not performing as you expected it to.

Regardless of the contract you signed, you still have statutory rights under the Sale of Goods and Supply of Services Act, 1980.

Basically if the product does not work as advertised or if the product is not of merchantable quality you have the right to a refund or repair/replacement - at your discretion.

    See - http://www.citizensinformation.ie/categories/consumer-affairs/consumer-protection/consumer-rights/consumers_and_the_law_in_ireland

They will probably tell you to shag off, but slap in a District Small Claims Court claim on them and watch them react!

    http://www.citizensinformation.ie/categories/justice/courts-system/small_claims_court

I am getting increasingly pissed off with this too - my service is OK, but I can't access any of the control panel items in the Wi-Max modem, so I can't set up my LAN the way I want to.

A good few years ago I took Microsoft to the Small Claims Court when I got pissed off with their dicking around over a support issue - the matter was settled the next day. I didn't even get my day out in court (which I was rather looking forward to!)

I cancelled about two weeks ago and a nice man there, Paul Daly assured me that I would not be charged for anything whatsoever as it had never performed as described.
Mr. Daly even sent out confirmation of this in writing.

    I got a bill today for €196.

Suprised? Well no, not really. The level of service from these people is so bad it's painful.
I rang the company but Mr. Daly was not available to speak to me, I was directed to accounts who told me I owed €30.
    Suprised? No not really,
Mt Daly had applied a credit note for eveything I allegedly owed but had failed to close my account, so I was being charged for this month.
I politely explained the similarities between Imagine Broadband and Pelicans to the nice accounts girl. (The ability of both to insert theirs bills in their rectums).
I still have their equipment taking up space in my house, which I believe I should begin charging storage on. Or donate to a charity shop on their behalf.

I can't recommend a better Broadband service to anybody, but I'm glad I hadn't disconnected my Eircom line. It's pricey but it works.

I do recommend posting to their wall on facebook if you have issues with them, at least it's a warning to others.

I figure a daily update on their service is resonable.
I emailed every day and kept at the facebook page until I got a phone call.

Now that you mention it, maybe it was 12 months. I just assumed 18 because my last contract was 18 months

I did all that about 4 weeks back and nobody got back in touch with me. I've rung at least 5 times trying to get this solved (would be more but my work hours don't suit their opening hours) It's hit and miss depending on which rep you get, some are good but most I've gotten were hopeless.

I really want to like Imagine Wimax but they have a lot more to do to provide any kind of customer service. Their website says they "will strive to answer your call in less than 60 seconds"

and then I was on hold waiting to talk to a person for 25 minutes, listening to the most excruciatingly annoying recorded ads.

    Bad, really bad service

So my pand line was switched from Eircom to Imagine today. First I had to turn the router off and on again to get its head together. Then I had to call to get imagine to do something to get our old number to work.

i connected a phone to the router and that worked fine. It made some funny noises for a while but eventually the dial tone came.

Then I connected a phone line from the router to a phone junction to connect to the internal wiring in the house, which is what the installer told me to do when my phone line switched over. It doesn't work. I can't use any phone in my house other than the one connected the the router. He mislead me. What's the point in having free phone calls when there's only one phone in the house?

Imagine were no help at all.

You probably wouldnt get very far. Speeds are "upto" so as long as your getting at least 1byte (yes a byte) transmited over the technology (4g or 3.5g??) then technically they are providing a service.
