From 19/4 to 12/5 is only 18 working days. Did you have travel documents included with your application ?

Ours are still "received" since 15/4 and we're suppose to be flying out on Sunday.:(

No travel documents included although I don't think it would have made any difference. If yours were received on 15/4 and the status is still received I'd be worried and call them or email them. They replied to me email within a couple of hours strangely enough.

For those waiting for passports - my sons application was received and registered on 12th April, status only changed last night to "being checked" and this evening to "passport posted". It took 22 working days.

Update: Passport Express, posted 13.04.10, received & registered 14.04.10
No update on website since then.
    Currently at 21 working days.

My boyfriend's is exactly the same, though it's only 20 days (Bank Holiday Monday!!!) they reckon it's taking about 25 working days so I'm going to give it until next Friday before I panic! Not due to fly until August.

I think next Friday might be a bit too early to panic. my application form as sent back to me yesterday as my photos were signed by one guard and the form signed by another. had to fill out the whole application again. we are travelling on the 10th of June. so fingers crossed. just a note, i had great correspondence from Cork office through E-mail.

The email address is on their website. I didn't mention my flight, I asked what the eta was that's all. I didn't get special treatment.

Haha! You're right! By panic I meant email them just to make sure that the application isn't after falling behind the photocopier!!!

I'm pretty sure the application is fine, I used to work in the ppo so I was uber conscious of getting it all right! Fingers crossed, hope I haven't jinxed it!!!

Hi, I am due to go on holidays may 28th, Foolishly i only decided to look for my passport wednesday, i searched the house from top to bottom, rang around the usual places but no joy, so yesterday morning i went to the passport office with all new forms ect to get a new one, showed the clerk my tickets and told her my story (which im sure she heard a million times) but she was sympathetic and put a note with my forms stating it urgent...but warned me there was no guarantee i'd have it within 20 working days... has anyone recently got a passport issued sooner than expected? I have to cancel the holiday by may 25th in order to get a 60% refund off the travel agent...:( but its not the money i care about... any one in a similiar predicament?? HELLLLLP!!!

Hi nonstarter, welcome to boards.ie. I've moved your query to the relevant forum (Travel and Holidays) and into this thread specifically related to passport queries.

    Thanks.

Says 22 working days on the website now which puts me right at the limit. That means I'll get it the Wednesday, and I'm flying Thursday.

No - we were on the phone to them a few times this week as we're flying out on Sunday

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,542 ✭✭✭✭cson

    Right, seeing as I'll likely have to pursue the same course of action myself next week I'll annoy ya with another couple of questions;

How hard was it to get through?
Were you holding for long when you got through?
    What times did you ring?

    Cheers :)

    No problemo !
How hard was it to get through?
Not too hard actually - I just repeatedly redialed when I got the "We're sorry...." message. I used the 1890 426 888 number.
Were you holding for long when you got through?
    5 to 10 mins
    What times did you ring?
Mornings and Afternoon, although afternoon seemed to be better
    Cheers :)
    You're Welcome ! :D

    Hi folks,

    Quick question.
When I renew my passport, do I need to submit my old one in the application or is a photocopy of the photo page ok?
And if I do need to submit it, do I get the old one back too?

Ideally I would love to keep my old one for sentimental value. :o

    Cheers

Yep - you must submit it with the application.

You do get it back with the corners cut off it, and "CANCELLED" stamped on some of the pages.

While the industrial action is going on, it is actually sufficient to include a photocopy and keep your old passport. See note 2 here:

    2. Photocopy the photograph page of any existing passport being renewed, include with the application form and retain the existing passport.
