I've nearly finished that abacus you ordered, but as I keep telling you, a calculator really isn't that hard to understand.

This guy isn't buying the Procter & Gamble 'human error' story at all, but claims it's the "system that is rigged'. His advice is to buy gold as we're in for a big crash very soon. He gives Ireland a mention too (not positive obviously)..

Witout a doubt Gold is the way to go, im not buying that Poctor story either, sure maybe someone made a mistake but the market was heading daown at a rapid pace at the time and the mistake would of not made much of a difference.
For the poster who said a euro was a euro, well its not really, in the event of a country exiting the Euro in a crisis or being forced too the country codes will come into effect wherby Euros with a code of a country that is about to exit will be exchanged for the new currency that country is about to issue, and that does not mean the exchange rate will be 1=1 it could be a lot lower because the said country wants to devalue fast.

Double dip is right and worse as i said earlier the bailouts are Just one big bubble and its about to blow, it was like treating a gunshot victim with a plaster, he will die in the end and that is what is about to happen with the Global economy.

that is what is about to happen with the Global economy.

Dont know about the global economy, more like the western economies. Honestly, i cant see the euro lasting past September. Ireland will HAVE to default and devalue. There is no other way we can pay the debt the FF/Anglo/Property bubble have landed us in.

What sickens me is the ambivalent attitude taken by the Irish public. My only conclusion is that 50% of the population are too stupid and focused on the English football and the other 50% have a vested interest in the price of dwellings rising again.

    Truely i despair.

Never spoken a true word but you know i can understand them, i mean i know whats going on but i very rarely talk about cause people think im all doom and gloom:D it and it really actually doesnt worry me that much.

cause people think im all doom and gloom:

    I feel like this; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cassandra

As long as we keep electing the local "stroke", we are doomed to deserve the politicians we deserve.

Truth is that "Doom and Gloom" is, in fact, reality. But who wants to accept reality when ones house becomes ones biggest asset?

Most people who come to Boards.ie first are attracted to AH, they kinda try to make a name for themselves by trying to be funny. I did it myself but its best to ignore them.

Still, tis good to have a discussion about economics in AH without the usual "your ma" bullshít"

It was a very volatile market day. Greece was a factor. Not the only one. Crude and financial services got hit bad short term. You're advising somebody to buy dollars from euro at a 13 month low. Perspective is needed.

WTF? Is this AH or politics or irish economy 2010?
The stock market is really just like any other marketplace - it facilitates the exchange of goods between interested parties and works to reduce distribution costs and set prices.

Hah? Is that a joke? It's a bit different innit? I mean there aren't cheap, giant toblerones at christmas are there?

To be honest, I'd have to say I'm the opposite :)

And the word contagion is back in the popular lexicon, nice.

Due to the elections the gilt markets in london will open at 1am. Interesting few hours ahead.

According to sources, a trader entered a "b" for billion instead of an "m" for million in a trade possibly involving Procter & Gamble, a component in the Dow jones average index.

Not sure if i believe this.

Imho opinion we are heading for the second dip of the w, this is gonna be far worse then two years ago.
Remember when all the politicians said that the banks where too big to fail. Well they are saying that now about the euro!

Thats my understanding of the situation...

Still, maybe its the socialist coming out in me (im a company director) but i think that the way the Gubberment/Media are subservient to these "Markets" is astonishing.

My understanding of "Systemic" is that the institution is of such importance that the economy of the state can not default bon the debt that we guaranteed in September 08.

I have been told by sources inside the Department of Finance and the Dept' of an Taoiseach that if Anglo or Irish Nationwide are alowed to fail, there will be a number of "high profile" TD's caught...

Honestly if this contagion spreads to the other PIIGS this will be a global economic disaster that will eclipse 1929.
Gold prices are going thru the roof, people are selling euro and running to the safe heaven of gold.

There is big big trouble on the way.

So should we all go out and buy gold? Or will an big investment in that be a gamble in the long run?

Yes (to the second question). Especially as the price rockets... & I think you'll find that there is a precedent for government seizure of privately held gold in the U$A... &, sure, whatever they have over there, we eventually get over here (although, note, we never got a space shuttle).

Just wondering... how big an investment do you have to make... I may know of an excellent opportunity for you... huh huh... damn... don't laugh, Kevin... it's a dead give away...

No, not all of us should. Shouldn't be a gamble if one invests in Gold, Lithium or copper.

Thats if you want an investment. What we are talking about here is keeping value of savings...

"So doctor, would you say it's time for the EU to hatch a diabolical plot with middle eastern and South Amercian OPEC states to overnight switch oil trading to euros thus marginalising the USA's financial clout in the world, then pressure China into equalizing the threat of USA and Brittains military response while holding them to economical randsom in order to control them beneath our reptilian feet and then crack each others heads open and feast on the goo inside?"

    "Yes I would Kent!"
