Finally got that 130kg bench. Wasn't as hard as I thought either.

I've cut back on alcohol about 70% recently and it's made a serious improvement to my training. It took a few weeks, but plateaus are gone and the rate of increase in all lifts is shooting up. Two serious drinking sessions back to back every weekend obviously had its price!

    Quick question.

I saw a guy doing Close Grip Bench yesterday.
He had them blue fat bar grip handle thingys on the bar and was using a suicide grip.

Is it just me or is this pointless?

If he was doing it to take pressure off his shoulders then its not pointless.

So Benching with a thumbless grip on a fat bar is less pressure on your shoulders?

    Never knew that.
    Cheers.

It might aid him in his sport or whatever he works at. I have the fatgripz and much prefer overhead presses with them (I don't benchpress). The instructions specifically warn not to use a suicide grip.

    http://www.fatgripz.com/instructions

Doing presses with the fat bar does not lower my reps, but pullups/chins are roughly halved. This makes sense to me. I found this page on fatbar benching before

    http://www.precisionnutrition.com/thick-and-thin-bars

it describes a study done on benching with thickbars, which was a waste of time, would have been good to see it done on pullups

This is entirely your own fault for

    A) Not drinking often enough

    and

    B) Cycling

    I have no sympathy

THat's a big ask!! The biggest comp snatch of all time was 216kg by Krastev. Mendes needs to do 225kg for 4 reds.
Can anyone explain why Krastev's record doesn't stand.
I know all the records were annulled when IWF changed the divisions. But surely to top divisions should of remained.
Everyone who was competing is 110+ would still be 105+
And i bet nobody, who ever holds a world record or wins top level gold, in the +105 division weighs between 105 and 110

Anyway, was watching Australia's greatest athlete last night and this weeks event was Benchpress. Obviously they weren't going to test 106kg Wendell Sailor against 67kg Olympic diver with max weight.

The challenge was max reps with 75% of body weight. Most of the numbers were pretty impressive, the two winners coming out with 33 reps @ 75%.
I thought it was pretty impressive, and got me thinking about giving it a shot. Obviously won't get near 33 reps

anybody ever do anything similar, or care to estimate what they'd crack out.

Was in Tesco today and this absolute beast of a guy ahead of me was buying like 50 tins of tuna, and the first thing I thought was 'I bet he's on boards!' It seems somehow I've wound up thinking that everyone who works out is on the fitness forum!:pac:

I mean god forbid there are actually people who don't know it exists....
