Fergie has someone in mind I'd say. Dropping Carrick shows his intent to buy.

I hope so, never rated him and was never good enough.

If Rooney is back for Man City it will be interesting to see Berbatov plays and SAF goes 4-4-2

no way will Fergie go 442 imo.

I would be surprised myself, just after the last couple of performances he might change it. I just hope we don't see Scholes and Giggs playing in CM, that was just stupid.

Any confirm this, Giggs has signed his 1year contract but Scholes & G Neville have still to sign?

ehh he started in the champions league last week after being "dropped" for the Chelsea game. Its called rotation its been going on for the past 2 years with the midfield changing every game.

I reckon only one midfielder will be bought this summer at most and another next year when scholes calls it a day/ hargreaves contract runs out/ ando gets moved on.

I don't care who it is, I'm sure Fergie will find the right player. The point is, he needs to be looking, and thats what worries me. If he's thinking that Carrick, Scholes and Giggs can cut it for another year, then I think we're in trouble. If he has identified it as a problem area, then I'm happy, because I expect it to be dealt with.

Anyone follow dutch football much? Any opinions or info on Luis Suarez?

From what I have read about him, he is a player with a fantastic goal scoring record (though in the dutch league where numerous flops have scored greatly - as well as Romario, Ronaldo and Ruud) and can play up front and on the left wing? Would that be accurate with regards to the positions he plays? If so, would he be a good option for United with the left wing and possibly up front needing more quality?

Suarez in my opinion is a great talent, he has 44 goals in 42 games this season for Ajax, 6 of them in Europe. He's powerful, quick and skillful. Good free-kick taker as well. He's a bit of a temper on him and gets booked a bit. He would be worth a punt for a PL club imo as he is only gone 23. And yeah he can play anywhere up front. As you say look at the strikers who have done well in the Dutch league but then went on to be flops elsewhere but you just never no.

cheers for that Johner. As you can imagine I have been thinking about how United could rebuild and the need for a left winger is up there - Suarez is a name I had heard mentioned for both left wing and up front (and he has been linked with United this year too) so thanks for fleshing it out a bit.

It is a big worry, isn't it.

I can well imagine Fergie saying Scholes, Giggs and Carrick are top class and that we don't need to look at the midfield this summer, when in reality we need to look at replacing all 3 of them. I wouldn't actually mind if all 3 were in the squad come September 1st - as long as they are moved down the pecking order by some new signings. Carrick wouldn't be a bad second choice sub/squad player and I would keep Scholes and Giggs around for their experience - if played in the correct manner and managed well they can still be usefull to us (as the AMC with a good midfield behind them). We should certainly not be relying on any of those 3 as first 11 player next season though, or we are in trouble.

No bother, he would be a great option for you imo. He got 5 goals in qualifying for the World Cup and him and Forlan are going to cause teams problems in the World Cup. His value is likely to rise a bit though.

Mitch, the midfield is a major problem for Manutd and has being for the last two years or more. I have thought at the time we signed Carlos Tevez SAF would have tried for Mascherano as well. When Ronaldo left in the summer and SAF knew it was going to happen as he said himself you would think he would have a replacement lined up or asked Real for Sneijder and Diarra as part of the deal.

I expect Manutd will sign two players in the summer and both will not big name sigings which will leave us all disappointed.

I don't want to see Fabio go out on loan - I'd like him to stay around and get 20 odd games next season.

We've seen how injury-prone our defenders are over the last two seasons - I'd prefer to have as much quality backup as possible...

Yeah id be same, very unlucky with injuries and with Evra playing so well and O'Shea as back up never going to get a look in. If he was to go out on loan i think it would make more sense to send him to another Premier league team like WBA for a season.

I think he'd get plenty opportunities if he stayed fit tbh.

Evra has been absolutely wrecked for us for the last 10 games at least.

JOS is going to be first-choice right-back next season, Evra will be first-choice left back and we ought to have the twins as second choice on both sides imo.

For me, this summer is like the year of 2005, where United were on the brink of going into decline. Fergie made the right signings though, and we climbed back to the top. Evra, Vidic, Carrick, sale of Van Nist, emergence of Ronaldo, beginning of a new era. That's what he needs to do again imo.

The one thing I like about limited transfer budgets is that when Fergie has little money to spend, its when he's at his best.

How often has that actually happened though?

Well Fergie has said in the past that World cup summers are unusual as players he has been eying will suddenly have great WC's and thus their values escalate.

So I would imagine if he wants to do business (and of course presuming United still can financially) it will be done fairly fast, like what was done three summers ago when everyone was expecting the arrival of Hargreaves in the first week of the break and possibly Tevez when out of the blue (or at least to me anyways) he signed the two players from Portugal (Nani & Anderson), not because it was a world cup or even European championship summer but because he wanted the transfers completed fast before competitors to react.

This was all done about 10 days of the season being over. Hopefully its that way again, I hate when the bigger transfers seem to drag on for weeks and slanging matches start between the two camps.

Like somebody posted earlier, Suarez is having a good season, and will be going to the WC in the summer, which will inflate his fee if he plays well. Would still be wary of people who score for fun in the Dutch league however, Afonso Alves and even Huntelaar come to mind.

Will suarez play much? With Tevez, Messi and Aguero in the squad too I would presume.

He's from Uruguay. He will play up front with Forlan. :)

He's not Argentinian, Forlan et al are his competition.

my point stands, he won't get much game time for argentina.....

Just had a look at the group Uruguay are in, not too bad. Themselves, South Africa, France and Mexico. Good chance of getting second in that group after the Chicarito's... Nah, seriously, they have a decent chance of getting through the group so the strikers should have the chance to shine.

yep, he'll be up front alongside Forlan. I'd be surprised if he didnt go in the summer, but I guess even if he goes before the tournament, he still wouldnt be cheap.

As long as he doesn't outshine Chicharito in that group it's all good.:pac:
