Ok so I typed up a letter to the Dept of Social Welfare informing them of a change of address, with a copy of a signed tenancy agreement from a Letting Agent on Letting agents official headed paper and requested all future mailings to be sent to new address.

Secondly i sent them a form that an Insurance Company had asked me to send back stamped by Dept Social Welfare.

Simple or so I though until all my paperwork was returned to me today.....with the following attached.

I am still in shock at the state of the letter, spelling and complete lack of professionalism not to mention the double standards contained within the scrawled response.

(Hope the jpeg is legible as I'm doing my best with the poor raw material that was sent back to me)

See you got a letter from management.

    You should feel privileged.

Nothing about the public service surprises me,
they can do what they want without fear of losing their jobs.

Well, nobody signed this response. Its toilet paper and doesnt mean a damned thing. You may as well regard it that they have not responded to you. I would call them saying as much.

OP, I don't know what your problem is - you got a concise and personal letter from the Dept. Is it the content that bothers you? You need to provide proper proof of domicile, the fact that the reply was not typed is neither here nor there. Or is it?

Well, at least they replied :D

It looks like they were trying to do you a favour by telling you what you needed for once. They probably had to hide in a cupboard to write it, lest they got found out by the machine and risk getting turned into mulchy Soylent Green.

Concise it may be, professional it sure as hell is not given the scrawl and incorrect spellings.

Personal!! Not signed, not on official paper, no structure.

The content has double standards, When I did send them official notification on headed paper of change of address it was not good enough as I do not yet have a Utility Bill or Bank Statement, I also sent the tenancy agreement to my bank and to my mobile phone provider. As these bills are not issued for another month, what do i do in the meantime, I do not want any notifications being sent to my old address as I am no longer resident there and other people have moved into the old property. The ESB Bill is not due for another two months.

And the response should have been typed, this is our Public Service and as such should have standards and professionalism.

I will never, ever forget one of my encounters with a public servant.

He came to the desk in such a state, that had I seen him on the street, I would have assumed that he was homeless. His nails were black with dirt and his hair was matted.
No-one should turn up to work in that condition.

Considering the national outrage.......maybe pour a little petrol on the fire???
