Indeed. The stench of pious self-indulgence in this thread is pretty overpowering.

They are a family that lives in Ireland. This operation is very risky. And there is a high chance that people related to or very close to this family will see this thread. That's why maybe we shouldn't joke about it.
do you not remember the many joking threads about irish celebrities that died? Humouros comments were taken in good spirit there

perhaps they could have saved the cost of the operation and gone for the free approach?

How does that not conjure a terrorism image? The second name especially?

I guess if you're into stereotyping people and don't get to mix a lot, it might conjure up that image.

Masked by the unpleasant aroma of ignorance and racism, I'd say.

It happens more and more during a baby boom

    Reminds me of the joke...

Two mothers are sitting in a cafe chatting over a plate of tabouli and a pint of goat's milk. The older of the mothers pulls a bag out of her purse and starts flipping through photos. They start reminiscing.
"This is my oldest son, Mohammed. He would be 24 years old now."
"Yes, I remember him as a baby," says the other mother cheerfully.
"He's a martyr now, though," mum confides.
"Oh, so sad, dear," says the other.
And this is my second son, Kalid. He would be 21."
"Oh, I remember him," says the other happily. "He had such curly hair when he was born."
"He's a martyr too," says mum quietly.
"Oh, gracious me," says the other.
"And this is my third son, my baby, my beautiful Ahmed. He would be 18," she whispers.
"Yes," says the friend enthusiastically, "I remember when he first started school."
"He's a martyr also," says mum, with tears in her eyes.
After a pause and a deep sigh, the second Muslim mother looks wistfully at the photographs and says,
"They blow up so fast, don't they?"

Best of luck to the twins today.. My brother had twins 11 weeks ago so even as an uncle and godfather I can imagine life has been tough for the parents.

Not gonna lie I thought this thread was made to spare a thought for Sadam Hussein and one of his cronies. :D

I kind of regret putting this in AH now but couldn't see anywhere else to put it. Jeez, I can be insensitive at the best of times and some unfortunate people can be at the butt end of my jokes.

But having kids of my own, I just can't think of what these parents are going through. When some of you nerdlinger virgins start having your kids of your own, you'll understand I suppose

Ignoring the personal abuse... if you wanted a serious debate or condolences/well wishes there are other fora you could have placed the thread, Humanities, Science, etc.

There's nothing worse than that "well as a parent myself" bullshit. Nobody is wishing any harm on the kids, it's lighthearted banter ffs

The internet-it reveals the disconcerting fact that most people are infact douche bags.

you know what, you're right, there should be less jokes and more threads about deformed kids, with tedious leper after after tedious leper posting "our thoughts are with you child we've only seen on TV".

Pure emotional onanism. Whatever happens to these kids, you'll have forgotten about them and their parents within 24 hours of their disappearance from the news.

I'm not saying every thread should be a pity party either, that's what personal issues is for.

Make all the jokes you want, but at least make them funny. LOL ARAB NAMES TERRORIST is really not funny.
