    fairplay to Haye

but not near as impressive as Darke and Watt are making out

Totally with you on that, i like Haye but his performance was that not impressive and i think he threw more rabbit punches then Darke or Watt had said.
lets hope he gets one of the Klitschos now

I was expecting Haye to win this in the 4th or 5th. Not that impressive tonight and not so sure now if he would beat the Klitschos but should be his next fight.

Kudos to Ruiz though. Fought in a style that was different to his norm, and he displayed great heart. Made for a fight that was entertaining, and one where there was always that slight element of doubt as to it being a certainty that Haye would win.

I fkn hate sky commentators . . "hes good isnt he!" as smug as possible as if Haye just floored Ali ! !

The did say that he was the fastest heavyweight since Ali....

All boxing commentators should be feed Gin for 3 days before a fight! :pac:

    ****

I think that is a bit harsh.....Haye has some great speed and clearly has power to go with it....He defo has to work on a few things but if he focuses he could be champ for a while

Great performance from Haye, dominated right from the off and looked like a true Heavyweight Champion. He was too fast, too strong and just too good for Ruiz tonight, he left him a bloody, battered mess. This fight will do wonders for Haye, it adds to his ever growing reputation and hopefully know we'll see him fighting a Klitchscko!

And before I forget, sorry for the original post - Haye was in awesome shape tonight, not an ounce of fat to be seen!

The sky commentators are just doing their job and hyping up their man. Anything that helps sell PPVs. Nothing to get too pissed off about it. They all do it

**** i cant listen to these sky commentators any more, bunch of ball lickers.

Haye was of a better class, but he gassed early, doesnt throw enough punches and was lucky

he looks like audley harrison all over again

Ahh now, he is nowhere near being anything like Harrison.

Ruiz is some tough bastard in fairness and he gave a great fight. Not many fighters would have taken those blows for so long, fair play to him. It was a lot better fight than I expected tbh.

Too many rabbit punches in that for my liking from Haye. At least he admitted to it though.

Ruiz was practically asking for them though, pretty much every time Haye threw a punch he turned his head and tried to get a DQ win lol

Intersting what the coach said about lack of sparing.....At least he admitted the defence wasnt all there...Hopefully Haye will listen to him

John Ruiz is quite possibly the worst fighter I have ever seen who was a champion. He was like a novice in there plodding away, not once trying
to cut the ring off. Uselss ****e!

Haye to me won't get by the Klits. His stamina seems suspect and he doesn't seem to be able to sustain a lengthy attack. After ten seconds he seems done.

I know they are hyping it up (afterall nobody better at Hype then Sky sports), but they just make you want to puke . . If anybody ever wonders why the Irish seldom support english sportspeople, we got the perfect example tonite (and will during the world cup) . .

Maybe if sky didnt buy up the rights for every possible sport event, we might be able to watch them with something resembling impartial commentary . .

I said it myself and one the knock downs was from a rabbit punch if you ask me. I thought Ruiz did well to get to 9 rounds for someone of 38. Ruiz plan was to get close and land jabs probably hoping to get to 12 rounds, Haye was just moving around ring and Ruiz kept chasing him and @ 38 he's going to get tired leaving himself open for Haye to land punches.

    I question this.

I think Haye is scared sh1tless of his own chin. Its not that he cant sustain a lengthy attack its that he's too worried he'l get tagged if he does. Hence constant fighting on the back foot.

Theres a differance between supporting an english team to supporting an english sportsperson . . If you are one of the "dont understand how Irish fans hate England footall team but support english teams" people, Im not wasting anymore time on this discussion . .

And usually when I see Irish Sports people on RTE, they arent being hyped to fk like they ALWAYS are on English tv . .

haye will get wiped out by either of the klitchkos, pity hes afraid to fight them

FFS, he's been gunning for them for the past year.
Where did you get the idea that he's afraid of them?

Very well done by Haye, imo.
He could have easily knocked Ruiz out earlier, but he's a showman and wanted to put on a spectacle for the crowd, imo.
I think he has a great chance of beating the Klit brothers, he knows he has to tighten up his defence and he'll be in the best shape of his life because he won't want to waste the chance of a life-time.

If you ask me, we should all get behind Haye regardless of his nationality. The Heavyweight division has been boring as hell for the last few years, you can say whatever you like about Haye, question his stamina, question his chin etc but you have to admit he's the most exciting heavyweight we've seen in years - His fights aren't complete snorefests, he's a great trash talker and he really knows how to sell a fight

I beg to differ.....You should take a listen to Dave Boy and Jimmy commentate.

Also, aren't we famous for celebrating failure? Yes, we are!

Trying to make out we aren't at all like those across the water is naive IMO.

I'm looking on the Sky planner to find when I can see highlights....Anyone know when they'll be on/available?

This forum obviously isn't the place for this but have you seen the Brits at work? When Murray is winning he's British, but when he's losing he's Scottish. Hell, they even tried to claim Colin Farrell in the interview with Samuel L. Jackson. Celebrating failure is not to be commended but it's more decent IMO than stealing thunder and grabbing praise and craving the spotlight
