No need to press the panic button quite yet

Ah i know but todays result has swayed it into Chelsea favour. I think the performance more so then anything has annoyed. I just didnt think we would play as bad again. Lets just hope its different on against Bayern but somehow i fear the worst.

+1 We really cannot afford to go another season without a creative CM tp partner Fletch in midfield. It is essential. In other areas we can make do if needs be (given the financial issues)

We are badly lacking in a top class creative CM.I think we are ok upfront with the options we have and hopefully Nani can keep improving.Who is out there to buy that we could realistically get?

I'd much rather us sign Ribery, he is the type of player we need and add a creative a midfielder to the mix. Ribery could
play as a creative midfielder. I know alot of people like Valencia but for me i am still not sure. I thought he was poor again today and is very limited in the role he can play and offer.

Rooney's epicness (yes, i know, what a word!), has clouded your need for a top class creative CM all year.

he gets in positions, and links play, in a way most forward players would never dream of doing.

today's lack of Rooney completely exposed that need for a CM IMO.

    Hamsik!

Also I'd love to have Lee Cattermole at United too :o

    why?

    you've Fletcher.

    unless you want an understudy?

We can't always rely on him. And Hargreaves is always injured, nice to have a back up, back up. I think Cattermole is going to a cracking player. He's good now.

Unlucky today lads, thought you would snatch a late equalizer! First half we were very good but we sat back second half and I thought United were the much better side for most the second half. Spurs and Pool away are huge huge games, its not over by a long shot yet.

if everyone is fit we have plenty of options for DM.its the creative CM we need.hamsik has looked good anytime i have seen him(prop only 6/7 times).fergie likes to buy from the EPL but I dont see anyone who we could buy without getting fleeced?

I don't know where you're going with that. Valencia, along with Rooney & Evra have been our players of the season.

While I would agree that he is the perfect player for Utd, do you really think Fergie would spend the money on him? Inter had an €30m offer turned down, so you would be looking at spending more than that, and he is not proven in the PL so he would be a huge risk at that kind of money. Plus, it looks like he wants to stay at Napoli anyway.

sneijder was there for the taking during the summer but nope saf thought other wise

I am really disappointed the way saf has let the midfield become stale and to much reliance on the old guard.

He is still yet to convience me, yes he has done good scoring goals and providing assist but for me he is too limited and direct for my liking.

    :(

Hopefully Napoli just didn't want to sell to a rival in their own league.

We are so badly lacking creativity in central midfield. Every squad has a weakness and that is ours.

One positive from today was that it was good to see Kiko coming on and looking fit. He could still be really important for us over the next few weeks.

sneijder was the one we should have got last summer cant understand why he wasnt part of the ronaldo deal

We definately don't need any wingers or strikers, atm.
A creative CM/AMC is essential. Scholes can do his bit very well every now and then, but he's not up to playing week in, week out.:(
VDV would have been perfect, imo. But now, we may need to go all out for Hamsik.

I think you have hit the nail on the head there, the way he has been playing , he has nearly been doing the job of two players. You notice this much more against a better team than a run of the mill team when ye can do well without him.

I would say that it's more to do with them trying to get into the top 4 and they knew they would need him to do it, he is their best player afterall. Also, if he doesn't want to leave they won't force him to, he is currently talking about signing a new contract and has said he is happy to stay there and help them get Champions League football.

I also doubt that Utd would be willing to spend the money to get him, with Inter and Chelsea trying to sign him I reckon it would be a minimum of €40m, which is rumored to be his buy out in his current contract and if he signs a new one it would be even more I would imagine.

Way off the mark here IMO. Rooney was present for the Bayern Game, and it looked like utd were overun. Put Rooney into that first half today and it would have made little difference, as Chelsea simply closed utd down, and utd were extremely poor in posession.

The second half, when utd started to up their tempo, and utd players wanted the ball and finally start going forward, THAT was when Rooney was missed. Overall, Utd need to inject some new blood into the side, especially midfield. Scholes, Giggs etc are too old to be relied upon now. Carrick is what I would call a 'slow thinking' midfield. In order to do his thing, he needs too much time. He can look great against teams that give him time to dwell, but at the top level, he is found seriously wanting. Anderson has gone from looking like a fantastic prospect to looking like a disappointment, time will tell though with him. There are some positives, Nani for example, but they'll fade into the backround if things aren't adressed elsewhere in the side.

Scholes and Giggs have both being fantastic servants but they are simply not good enough or able for it anymore when we play the top teams. Against the likes of Bolton, Burley they look great as does Carrick. SAF needs to sort the Midfield out in the summer, something he should have done last summer

Angel Di Maria from Benfica would be a good signing but at a price. He would replace Giggs long term and solve the left side of Midfield. Nani can play either wing unlike Valencia who is limited to just the right side.

Macheda and Berbatov to start in a 4-4-2 this Wed. Berbatov cannot both link with the midfield and get into the box to get a shot in

I'd like to see Macheda start myself, the team needs a lift and the right result and performance against Bayern is very much needed.

****e result to be honest. Thought the frist half was more of the same from wednesday night. The next two games for as vital. We need 6 points from them if we are to have any chance of winning the league.

Thought Machedas movement today was top notch for a kid. I'd love to see him start Wednesday night.

I to would love kiko to start but being realistic I just cant see it happening because of how weak our midfield is
