Mine went from being application recieved on the 9/3/2010 and being checked to application has being registered yesterday updated at 7.45 and today passport is printed and will issue no later than the 19/03/2010 which was updated today at 13.45, so yesterday it was just registered and today it will issue 10 days ago!!! what does this mean,,anybody else getting this and what is the next step,,is this just a auto step as its by default 10 days after passport was recieved, ie 9 march to 19th march=10 days!!!

Not in a hurry for it but don't want it to get lost or something like this!!!!
Should I just wait or is it lost???

    your thoughts please...

I sent it in passport express on the 8th march, was recieved 9th march...
Still have not got it yet but as above::: updated today to printed and will issue 19/3/2010...Looks like a default update:confused:

Ok kind of got an update from email query I sent in this am at same time as my first post.
"The applications below are presently being checked for passport entitlement. If they are in order passports will be posted to you in the next couple of days."
My status on tracker if you recall was and still is
"Received on 09/03/2010 and has been registered"

Will leave it for a few days and see what happens by this day next week, to be fair tothem and give a chance to catch up. Maybe thats too brave .... will others keep board advised with your times too? Thanks.

That's a weird one alright. If you look at the dates it would appear that the 10 days guarantee for the Express Post method of application might be to blame, and as you suggest, it is a system default. It's pretty encouraging re getting to passport printed status having been received on 09/03. Assuming it is not misleading information, and that it is winging its way to you as we speak. Will keep the fingers crossed for you, let us know how you get on. Might be worth a phone call to the office.

We applied for 3 passport renewals on 8th March via Passport Express.

They were received on 9th and up until this morning were showing as 'being checked'.

Status changed this morning to 'posted on 19/03/2010 which is either BS or a typo.

Actually posted yesterday (29th) and 2 of the 3 arrived this morning.

You did well to get them that quick!!!

The tracking service on the passport.ie website has been showing "being checked" for the last week or more.

When I checked this morning I got this message.....

Your new passport was posted on 19/03/2010 in an An Post envelope, reference No. PP
IE. Use this number to track the delivery of your passport by contacting An Post at http://track.anpost.ie/track.html or contact their customer care service on 1850 575859.

Clearly it wasn't posted on the 19th because the An Post tracking says "received" on 29th and "on route to customer" today.

That's very encouraging news. It would seem the delay is not as bad as I feared then. We posted ours on 10th with Passport Express and are travelling on 14th. I had written off the chances of being able to go based on info on here and elsewhere, but it would seem like we have a good chance now.

    Hi just joined,

    Found this info very useful.

I applied for my passport on the 10th of March, status has been: received on the 11th and is being checked. Now says: received on the 11th and has been registered.

Does anyone know what "has been registered" means?

Any info will be much appreciated

According to the member of staff I was talking to yesterday, I'm afraid it doesn't mean anything.

My application was set to this status a couple of days ago, but hasn't been touched by anyone in there apparently :( Applied on the 15 th via express post btw.

I'm having some success getting through on the 1890 number in the mornings, although it doesn't seem to be doing me any good in terms of getting the application processed.

For those of us thinking of queuing at Molesworth Street, he said this will not achieve anything. Mind you, if I still don't have the passport a couple of says before I travel I'll be queuing myself irregardless.

As stated a few posts ago, some of the status updates on the website are misleading to say the least. It's still better than nothing though.

    Well here is my update.

My partner applied for her passport on the 08th March via Passport express. Up until saturday morning (the 27th) the status was always 'being checked' however saturday morning it changed to 'printed'. Monday morning the status changed to 'posted' and we finally got the passport yesterday morning. So all told thats a 22 day wait 15 worknig day wait which is what their website said it would take.

Delighted its all over and hopefully all others get sorted out in time.

    Dave

My brother applied for his passport on the 10th and recieved in the post yesterday morning. Around 20 day's all told. He rang up last week and was told the status on their website saying "registered" meaned the passport had been checked and was sent for processing.

I've been thinking about this and wondering how I should proceed; I'm flying on the 20th May and my passport is out the day before ergo I need a new one before I travel. It gives me 6 weeks or 30 working days to get one. I've been doing the numbers in my head and its a bit off putting. If they really have 50,000 applications to get through then thats very very roughly gonna be over 1600 passports a day they'll have to print before they get mine done. I'm a trifle worried. :(

Well this is roughly the time period we had on ours, and it came three weeks early so its best to get the breathing space. It sounds ridicolous I know but I would start the process early, however hopefully with the talks seemingly succesful it might not be neccesary. If you need a passport to travel and are travelling in a period when your current passport is expired then why not apply early? I know it will add to the backlog but once in the sytem you know it will be processed.

If you apply now you don't have to send your current passport off - a photocopy will do.

I went in this morning. There was about 50 people ahead of me at 8am and I recon about 100 in the queue by the time the doors opened at 9am.

Most seemed to be goining downstairs to apply. I went upstairs to collect and there was about 20 in the queue which moved fast.

I applied in person on the 18th and had a collection date of 30th and need it to travel next weekend.

The lady behind the counter said they were about 2 days behind on collections ( I assume thats for people who dropped it in themselves and not passport express)

So I was told it should be ready Tues or Wedn and to watch the website which is great if true.

So I'll go back on Wedn and handcuff myself to the chair if its not ready :)

    hope that helps somebody

I would get your passport application in ASAP.
My OH & I reapplied for our passports through Passport Express on Saturday last 27th March and they have not be registered as of yet in the Passport system. The lady in the post office said it would be approx 16 working days.. but I doubt it. Payment from my laser has not been taken yet .

Dont forget to account for Easter Holidays

Please find below details of answers to some questions that I sent to the Department of Foreign Affairs on our behalf yesterday.

    Q. In the light of the recent agreement between the Government and the Unions, is it now possible to

re-visit the policy whereby applications are processed strictly in "date of application" order without regard to travel dates ?

Before the current dispute the staff in the passport office were allowed to prioritise applications

that were more urgent based on travel date. Reinstating this ability would alleviate much stress and suffering for the members of the public, along with demonstrating

that all parties involved are committed to providing the best possible service to the general public in the current circumstances.

    A. The industrial action continues. We will be looking at all these issues once the action has concluded.

    Q. Over the last few days the Passport Application tracking page (http://www.dfa.ie/home/index.aspx?id=2859)
on the DFA's website has been updated frequently during the day.

However, the statuses are proving somewhat confusing to members of the public.

Most recently a large number of applications have changed from "Received on DD/MM/YYYY being checked" to "Received on DD/MM/YYYY and has been registered."
Does this mean that these applications are now actively being processed ?

Would they have they been checked at this stage ?

Could the department supply a list of these statuses so that members of the public can tell at what stage in the process their application is at ?

    A. Changes were made to this element of the website in recent days. There will be more changes to this service in the days to come. This will include an explanation of status information. The passport service has, throughout this dispute, endeavoured to provide the most up-to-date information possible to the public through press statements, advertisements in the national newspapers and our through our website, www.passport.ie

    3. As the applications are currently being processed by application date, can the Department confirm, for the passports currently
being posted out, which "dates" are currently being processed ?

** Question not answered, but from previous posts here it looks like they're up to about the 8th to the 10th **

    4. Based on the information in 3. above, would it be possible to give an indication of how long it may take to process applications that were made on a given date ?

    A. The current turnaround time for processing passport applications submitted through the Passport Express service is between 15 and 20 working days. Except in the case of emergencies, our advice remains that all applications should be made through the postal service, negating the need for members of the public to queue outside passport offices.

In the interest of sheeding some light on the statuses:

We sent ours in on 10th March using Express Post
When it first came up on the tracking it had status of "Being Checked" (or something like that)

Next status update was "Received on 11/03/2010 and has been registered.", think this happened on about 19th March.

It is still in this status, from what I can gather from earlier posts, it can remain at this status for circa 12 business days, but I'm open to correction.

Then it seems to swap between Approved & Posted. The posted date is in the past, often 10 days from when it was received, but the status seems reliable in that people seem to receive it soon after it is posted.

I now have a posted date, again its the 19th March but atleast its something.
However, when I enter the tracking# on An Post website, no luck. May need to just give it a few hours to update.

If it is any use, my current status is "Received on 11/03/2010 and has been registered". If other posts are anything to go by, I would expect that yours will be posted soon - there are examples of people here who posted their on 8th March and have got it back. Keep us informed, and good luck!

Just got these updates on the website now re my two childrens applications:

Application Number Entered: XXXXStatus: Application No. XXXX. This application cannit be processed. A letter outlining the reasons is to be issued shortly Website Last Updated: 31/03/2010 at 13:45
    and the other
    Application Number Entered: XXX
Status: Passport is printed and will issue no later than 19/03/2010.
Website Last Updated: 31/03/2010 at 13:45

What am I going to do. they make no sense. I dont have the days to wait until a letter gets to me to tell me what is wrong with my application. It has to be the photographs because the applications were exactly the same otherwise. Am gutted and confused
